I am so sorry you are going through this!!! I hear you about the sleeve vs. the RNY and being less invasive...but because it's fairly new, I can also see why they would be "looking into it" (I guess...)
Keep your head up!
APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL.... and get that approval!
Fight them until they say yes.
I wish you the best of luck!

Topic: DENIED
So I received a letter on Saturday that I was denied. Seems that Capital Blue Cross doesn't accept the Gastric Sleeve. There are still looking into this type of procedure...seems they don't have all the answers as to what the Gastric Sleeve is, I mean if they approve Gastric Bypass and that's more invasive then why not the Gastric Sleeve...Urgh!!
I spoke to the Dr office this morning and we are going to appeal it. I need to gather more info from my PCP and send it back to them to submit to the insurance for the appeal.
Has anyone been denied and had to appeal, if so, any suggestions on what I should do?
Thank you.

Topic: RE: September 7th Date. How long were you off work??
HOLY **** 6 weeks???? Are you having Open RNY?
I am having laproscopic RNY on Sept 7th. I took 2 weeks off from work. Most people on the main RNY forum say 2 weeks unless you have complications of course...and it does vary from person to person. Some people said they were back in exactly a week.
I took off 2 weeks just in case.
It's really your preference.
GOOD LUCK

Thank you!!!! Thank you for your blessings!
My pre-op is actually really good. I am on day 5 and lost 9 pounds so far.
Day 1 and 2 were horrible--- detoxing, caffeine withdrawal, and a drastic decrease in blood sugar which made me weak, muscle aches...etc.
Now, I'm fine! Cannot wait for Sept. 7th!

Hi ladies!!
For protein shakes... I use PRO COMPLETE (go to my OH blog if you want to see a picture)... it has 40 grams of protein, and less than 1g of sugar! They have: Vanilla Ice Cream, Rich Chocolate Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, and Banana Creme.
2 lb buckets are usually $35. But they are the BEST shakes I've tried so far.
GOOD LUCK!
