Hello Everyone! I feel like I am not making much progress getting ready for surgery where food changes are concerned. One of my biggest problems is I tend to not eat at all until later in the day. One of my to do items from the surgeons list is to start eating at least four times a day. Not easy. Am thinking I should just take a big plunge and start protein shakes only now.
I did kick coffee/tea this week (day four and no one in my house has been injured). Today I got on the elliptical for 15 minutes (not pretty).

I feel your pain, just differently...I'm currently having what will hopefully be my last pre-op cycle, and I'm at the OMG FEED ME stage, at the point where nothing is what I want...oy vey. It's the only time I ever let myself "go crazy" which I'm told isn't really that crazy, anyhow, I am worried about how hard that might be post-op, when crazy is like, 2 oz of protein shake instead of 1 oz? LMAO...I'm so ready for this, still waiting for my date tho...

My biggest issues has also been not eating all day and then eating through the evening. I've been a late night snacker for years. I think it is because I find this time much more relaxing than during the busy day. Years ago before having kids I was much better at not eating after 6-7pm.
Starting protein shakes wouldn't be a bad idea. I have been using protein shakes off and on for years. It is surprising how much energy one can give you to help you through the day by even having one for breakfast. In the past few months I have started having one for breakfast and one for lunch and then my supper. Of course leading up to my liquid per-op I did have a food funeral. I had to say good-bye to foods that I will not be able to eat for a very long time; Chinese and steak! I also kicked coffee a few months ago mostly because it does irritate my stomach.
Good luck on your surgery!

Costco has a ready to drink shake (chocolate Premier) that I have had everyday for the past few months. I also have their Lean fit that you mix with either water or milk available in chocolate and vanilla. I find it very tasty. Popeyes also carries a brand called 4Ever Whey that comes in a few other flavors other than chocolate and vanilla that I have used. I have found a lot of the store brand leave a terrible aftertaste. The Costco brands have left none. I'm sure there are many other very good ones. Some places even have sample packages. I know Popeyes have provided me with samples.

Hi ladies!!
For protein shakes... I use PRO COMPLETE (go to my OH blog if you want to see a picture)... it has 40 grams of protein, and less than 1g of sugar! They have: Vanilla Ice Cream, Rich Chocolate Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, and Banana Creme.
2 lb buckets are usually $35. But they are the BEST shakes I've tried so far.
GOOD LUCK!
