Sept 8th what do I pacK???
Hey girl!
First of all...congrats!!
Second: There was a post on the RNY forum about what to pack.... and the majority DEFINITELY said to pack chapstick (your lips will be SOOO dry and you can't drink for a while right after surgery)....and they also said to DEFINITELY pack mouthwash. your breath is BANGING gross after surgery, and that's the best thing (or the listerine strips).
They said that the hospital can really supply you with everything else you might need.
Some said they brought their own pillow and their I-pod. Some people who brought books and magazines said they were too tired to read them and just rested instead.
Hope this helps!
Oh, P.S. make SURE you wear comfy loose pants to the hospital and then wear those home too... and make sure you put them on UNDER the belly button

Pack comfortable pajamas and slippers. You will be walking around the halls often after surgery. This is a requirement. You will get a shower before you go home, pack something comfy to go home in. Other than your toiletries you don't need to much else. At first you will only be walking and sleeping. The nurses will be waking you up constantly to make you blow in a machine, test your vitals etc. The time will go so fast, you will be home within 3-5 days barring any complications. The 1st 2 will be a blurr.
Congratulations and good luck!

What should I bring with me to the hospital
Basic toiletries (comb, toothbrush, etc.) and clothing may be provided by the hospital, but most people prefer to bring their own. Choose clothes for your stay that are easy to put on and take off. Because of your incision, your clothes may become stained by blood or other body fluids. Other ideas:
- reading and writing materials
- crossword and other puzzles
- personal toiletries
- bathrobe
