Topic: I so glad my insurance made me take classes

Those 6 months worth of nutrition classes that Blue Cross makes you take before having surgery was the best thing ever. If I had this surgery back in 2005, things would probably be a lot different. I have really learned how to change my eating habits which helped me to lose a couple of pounds before surgery.

Here I am scheduled to have surgery on 9/16/09. I am so nervous, but at the same time excited.
What will I look like, how will my body change, will I be too skinny....lol (after being fat almost all my life) what will people say, how will they react. Oh well who cares....lol I will feel so much better and it's all about me
Good luck to everyone scheduled to have surgery this month and future months ahead.

My first information class was Dec 2nd,2008 so not quit a year. I was told in june that my date was sept 21 so it has been a road on excitement and nervousness i think i have pulled my self together -- so it is not so rough as the days get closer.

MY BAG IS ALMOST COMPLETELY PACKED AND I AM 13 DAYS AWAY.  I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY.  I CAN PROCRASTINATE TILL THE COWS COME HOME AND BE ALL ' A.D.D.' ABOUT MOST THINGS, BUT WHEN THINGS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO ME,  THAT IS WHEN I GO INTO OVERDRIVE.  EVERYTHING HAS TO BE PERFECT!   DR. SPRUNGER PROMISED ME THAT HE WOULD WAKE ME IN THE RECOVERY ROOM.  I TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT WAS BUGGING ME,  WAS THE THOUGHT OF SOME UNKNOWN PERSON WAKING ME UP.  HE WAS LIKE  " IS THAT ALL YOUR WORRIED ABOUT ?  OF COURSE I WILL BE THERE TO WAKE YOU"  JUST REMIND ME BEFORE WE "KNOCK YOU OUT"  HE IS SUCH A SWEET MAN.  I LOVE HIM.  HE IS KINDA HANDSOME TOO SO IM LIKE " SHOOT, YOU CAN CUT ME OPEN ANYDAY LOVE"  LOL... NEVER TOLD HIM THAT THOUGH... MAYBE WHEN I AM STONED ON MEDS,,, KNOWING ME I PROBABLY WILL..LOL

how long have you been working on getting the surgery? It took me 8 mths of test, insurance and more tests LOL...I know you are really excited. hope to hear from you soon...sheree

I know the people in my office are sick to death hearing me talk about this surgery but I don't think they understand....this is more exciting than purchasing a car or going on a tropical vacation. I am getting my life back... YES

I'm having a lap roux en-y.  Getting very anxious.  I found a book that's been very helpful though.  "WLS for Dummies".  It's helped to calm some of my fears about what may and may not happen.

It has been okay. Even though I found out the same thing after I went back over my pre-surgery paperwork. What I have been doing is drinking a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and then eat dinner. Doing it that way has not been that bad. Just ready for Sept 1 to come. Oh yeah those night time munchies try to get me.

I thought that I needed  to start much sooner than it turned out to be.  I don't start until 2 days before surgery but, I started my new eating plan about 2 weeks ago.  I'm focusing on low carb high protein foods and taking a liquid vitamin.  So how has the liquid diet gone for you so far?  What are you eating?
