Please let me know what you think. I think its great...primarily because what are the options? We can't have soda so this is the next best thing and I'm tired of chauky protein drinks. yuck. This is like a nice refreshing imitation of iced tea. Add some ice to it and you will love it enough to keep drinking.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for the info! I have to send the hubby back to The Vitamin Shoppe tomorrow anyways, so I'll have him grab some while he is there! I love my tea.

Thank you all for the replies. I am restings, that's for sure. I feel so tired. I took the same dose of pain medication they gave me in the hospital, and while in the hospital it would knock me out for about two hours, here at home I was down for about 5 hours. So, I may cut that in half since I can take between 10-20 ml...next time just take 10 and see how I do with that. I am walking, not a lot yet. My teenage daughter allowed me to hold on to her arm as if she was escorting me somewhere and we walked about half way around the block before I said that was just too far for me just yet. I am drinking my water and I am drinking my protein shakes as well.

I guess right now my ONLY complaint is that I so wish my husband would fix their dinner somewhere else. The smell of the food makes me sick to my stomach and I know they need to eat, I just wish they could eat somewhere else!

Rayne..congrats on the weight loss! We don't have a scale yet in the house, but that is the next purchase on the list.

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! I know these next few weeks will be difficult, but I'll be just fine with the great people here and the wonderful support system at home as well.

Many happy losses!

Oh wow. I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out. My question is will you have insurance after Oct. 1? I hope so because you have to plan for unanticipated events so I would hate for you to get it and then be stuck with no insurance for the follow ups etc.

Keep us posted. I'll be praying.

Sheree

I found the PERFECT WHEY PROTEIN SHAKE. If you like Ice Tea you will love this. It's called Nectar Lemon Tea. It's AWESOME. I got rid of my ISOPURE. I couldn't stand it any longer and when I got to the point of giving up protein all together I said I have to do something. So I was on my way out the door to buy atkin shakes. I've tried those while dieting and they're ok. Not great but ok. Luckily the hospital called me to follow up as I was headed out and I told them what I was going to do and they said ABSOLUTELY NO and that it was not the type of protein I needed.

So I went on my merrily way to find a better "whey". The guy at the Vitamin Store showed me the Nectar Lemon Tea. He said it was a big favorite of Bariatric patients. I purchased it and guess what? I'm in LOVE.

No more chaulky thick shakes. These are refreshing drinks and since we can't have soda it's an awesome alternative. i hope you try it.

Deidra,

I know exactly how you feel. I had my surgery on 9/9 and that's exactly what I told my husband. I could hear and feel the food as it traveled through my stomach. it's definately weird. That will go away in a few days. Are you walking a lot? Make sure you keep it up. If you're not hungry its ok just REMEMBER to drink water, water, water and walk.  Are you drinking your whey protein shakes?   Those are the most important things. More so than food....if you can't get it all in.

Congrats on your success. We can do this. I lost 12 pounds in a week. Today is exactly a week.

Howdie,

I feel AWESOME. So much so that it's scary because I want to do more but I forget I can't. Yesterday I lifted a lot of things that I shouldn't have and today I'm paying for it. My insides feel like they're all over the place.  I took off four weeks but the way I feel I could probably go back this coming Monday but I'm not. I need this break.

Has your insurance approved it yet? If so, what's the hold up? I would call the doctor everyday until I had an appointment.

Just remember to WALK and SIP, WALK and SIP. The day of surgery....about 5 hours later GET UP AND WALK. Take your pain medication right before and get up. It helps...boy it helps.

Ok let's see, maybe I can help you. I had my surgery on the same day as you. My doctor didn't require me to be on a liquid diet. The first day I had ice cubes, second day protein drinks and a nasty protein gel, and on the third day pureed food. OMG I was so happy to have pureed you just dont know.

Do you have a blender? If not, Walmart has an inexpensive handheld blender for 12.00. I got that because it didn't make sense for me to buy a big blender to puree 4 tablespoons. It works like a chart. I've lost 12 pounds to date.

Let me post what I ate today

Morning

7am  Ice Tea protein drink 23 grams

9am Plain Oatmeal packet with a teaspoon of Splenda

12pm  4TBS of blended chicken, gravy and rice

Water
Water
Water

5pm  4TBS of a blended jerk drumbstick and rice

7:30 Ice Tea protein drink 23 grams

Do you use the food tool on this site? It's awesome. I use it to journal my food everyday. I love it. It tells you precisely how much protein youre getting, how many calories etc. I hope this helps. Let's stay in touch. We share the same date. Maybe we can encourage each other on this journey.

oh one more thing...I was thinking the surgery didnt work early on because I always felt hungry. My girlfriend who had the surgery explained to me that the hunger pains are still the same. The difference is you can satisfy them with a small amount of food. She also said I wasn't getting enough protein which was true because the ISOPURE was AWFUL. Now that I have the tea I'm overdosing on it. I can't get enough. Hunger pains are GONE. I eat 3 meals per day and drink two protein shakes...or more. ;-)
