Topic: RE: Home resting after RNY on 9/14/09
So here it is, 9/18, and I am feeling wonderful today! Yesterday was a little iffy at a few points, but I kept making myself trudge through and push even if I didn't feel like it and I'm glad I did. I only had to take my pain meds before bed last night and I haven't had any so far today! I've had a protein drink and some oatmeal plus my iron supplement, so I think I'm doing well. I do need to find my water though and make sure I am drinking that. I'm making sure I get my protein in, but I'm having trouble remembering to drink. Go figure.

I'm getting my walking in, which is wonderful. Of course it helps to have a new puppy that needs to be walked every few hours too...lol. I'm still living in either stretchy pants or pajama bottoms just because I don't want to put on any jeans yet for fear that they will be too tight on my stomach. So, my neighbors get to see me walking around the neighborhood wearing Happy Bunny pajama pants...lol. Oh, I'm sure they talk and I just don't care.

Today is the first day that I was actually able to see, just a teeny bit, of a change. I know I'm losing weight but I don't have a scale at my house, so I don't know how much...but I can see it and that is what matters most to me. That and the fact that I just feel so good! This was the best decision that I made for myself...the decision to LIVE!

I hope everyone else is having a great day!

Topic: RE: Starting to get Nervous!!!!
What you are feeling is normal. It's "cold feet" essentially. I did just fine up until my pre-op appt with my surgeon when I had to start signing consent forms...and all of a sudden, my hands were clammy and I was sooo scared and nervous...ugh, I just can't even tell you how nervous I was! However; I never second guessed my decision to have this done...even though I was scared, I knew it was the right thing. After that appt, I said to myself "This is it. Lets do it!" and haven't looked back since.

My surgery was on 9/14 and even that morning, my doctor said to me that it had been a while since he had a patient that was as anxious for this as I was! It was the BEST decision I ever made for myself and despite the nerves...I don't think I'll ever look back and say that I regret anything about this.

Psyche yourself up for this! Get yourself in the frame of mind that says "LET'S DO THIS!" and start thinking about what things are going to be like for you in just one year from now. Get excited about this amazing transformation that you are about to undertake! Be proud of yourself for saying "I'm WORTH this!". Best of luck Shannon! You'll do great!!

Topic: RE: Syntrax Nectar Whey Protein Isolate, Powder, Lemon Tea
Yea Deidra :-) I'm glad you like it. Yes, I shake it after every sip to keep it mixed because that is a problem, but considering the alternatives it's definately good. I'll have to try the splenda with it. That sounds good.  FYI about the Atkins shakes. That's what I was going to use because I used them before surgery but the hospital and nutritionist were adamant about me not drinking Atkins.

They said it's not the type of protein we need. We need Whey Protein because it's pure and it's exactly the type that our bodies need right now since it's not getting an adequate amount from the foods we eat.

Someone else suggested Nectar Cappacino. He said his wife loves it. I'm going to try that next.

Okay, we bought this stuff last night while I we purchased some of the RTD Atkins Advantage (which are soooooo good!). I made a glass of it last night and the only issue I have with it is getting over that initial smell/taste of powder with every sip...lol. I did add one packet of splenda to it and after that had NO problem at all drinking it. It did taste like a sweet lemon tea...even my husband said it wasn't bad...lol.

I'll eventually get around to trying other flavors, but for now...just one thing at a time is fine by me!

Sounds just what I am thinking!  My pre-op is 21st and surgery the 28th.  I am really getting nervous, scared, wondering if I am totally crazy to be doing this, etc.  Definitely second guessing  myself!  I bet we all do this!  You are a few days before me, I will definitely say a few prayers for you on your day.  I know I am doing the right thing, even though it will be hard at first.  I bet we will all do just fine!

Topic: RE: Pre-Opt Diet??????

All mine requires is a  clear liquid diet the day before, and then nothing after midnight the 28th (surgery day).  I have heard of some surgeons requiring 2 weeks optifast, 2 weeks clear liquids, etc.  I would definitely call if they haven't given you anything written since it seems like every surgeon is different!  Good luck!
