Sheree,
I am excited and scared at the same time. I am having it on Monday also. I don't know what to expect!! I have lost all my food procedures. Like what I'm supose to be eating right now??? I'm on liquids but I know they had some runny foods on there to eat where I feel like there a little something there. Well I will pray for you to get through this with no pain and with great strength. God Bless, Verna Corbett
Also where are you having it done??? I will be at Shands in Gainesville Florida
I also pray for everyone on the list!!! This is a dream come true!!! A blessing from God

Topic: RE: PROTEIN
I know that I am still pre-op (scheduled for 9/28), but I have been using the Unjury products since the first of September and love them. After my initial order of single-serving packets - as a trial - ran out and I had forgotten to order more in time, I had to use some of the truly disgusting stuff I found at Wal-Mart that met the protien, carb and calorie guidelines. It was simply aweful, I was so happy when my Unjury order came in! They come in tubs that provide 15-17 servings each, depending on the flavor.
Neat thing is they have a Chicken Soup flavor that you mix with warm - not hot (must be under 130 degrees or it will turn to geletin, yuk) water and it takes exactly like a nice chicken broth, but with way more protien and less salt.
I use the unflavored in 1/2 strength crystal light for a flavor treat instead of plain water, but you can't even taste it in plain water either.
Chocolate is my favorite with milk and the vanilla is really good in yogurt or blended with milk and pureed fruit.
Yes, the protien is essential for proper muscle function and for many other parts of your body too! You must, must find a way to get it in - along with all of your vitamin and supplements.
Don't get too down on yourself, I know that they warned us in our pre-op training that weeks 3 and 4 are the hardest; to expect lots of emotions, frustrations and possibly even a plateau. BUT, the good news is that once you pass the 4-6 week point they say that things will begin to fall into place, your body will begin to cooperate with you and then things really get good! Stick in there, everyone says this is the best thing you have ever done for yourself, but it takes some work to reap the wonderful benefits.

Topic: RE: Anyone on Sept 15, 2009? Anxious, nervous, freaking out??
I am HOME! Even slept in my bed part of the night - was a little tough getting back out, but a little hand to lean on to help me sit up was all I needed.
Starting on FULL liquids now that I am out of the hospital - slow going. Could the chewable vitamins and Calcium be any bigger! LoL They are practically a meal.
Going to go for a walk outside today - well, maybe to the mail box. I will work my way up from there.
Ok - where is everyone else? How are you guys? Come check in and let us know you're all doing ok.
How is everyone's weight doing? I'm up a few pounds , from swelling and fluid retention. I also didn't start passing gas until Friday which was pretty slow. Still waiting on that post surgery, ahem ...
So happy to be on the "other side" and ready to get moving.
PS - On the way to the hospital, I got a new job (I was laid off in June) - How's that for PERFECT? I took pre OP pictures on my cell phone, since I couldn't find my camera, so I will post those soon. Then I will be posting new ones for the 15th of every month - I'm going to keep a photo record of my journey along with my written journal.
Good luck to all us LOSERS!
Hugs - Diane

I had the same issue as you and tried a bunch of protein shakes...Try MAX PROTEIN
You can purchase online or at GNC...They have Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry.
I think Chocolate is probably the best...go to this website:

Topic: RE: Surgery may be cancelled
Sue, that sounds like it was quite a blow. I have the same surgeon and am scheduled for this coming Monday, the 21st. I've had quite a few hurdles to get to surgery and I can only imagine how you must feel. Are there plans to do a different surgery at some point? If I can help, please let me know how.
