I am taking Tums. I know that is carbonate, not citrate - but, my surgeon at UCSF (the head surgeon of the entire bariatric department) said Tums are fine. But, don't listen to me on that one. That is just what my surgeon said to me. Good luck.

My RNY is scheduled for the 29th also. I'm excited and nervous, but mostly anxious to just get on with my new life!
Topic: RE: what can i eat now
I had my surgery the day before you. But....each doctor has their own plan. I have slowly progressed from liquids to cream of wheat, grits, yogurt, applesauce and oatmeal. As of today, I can now add tunafish and scrambled egg, but no more than 1/4 cup.
Did your dr give you a list of foods you can eat week by week? You should be following that to the letter, including the amounts. We're both still in the process of healing our pouches and we need to be very careful.

Topic: RE: I'm home
I had my surgery Monday afternoon and made it home yesterday afternoon. Feeling SO much better being in my own place. Monday night was really rough but each day I'm feeling stronger and in less pain. Working hard at getting all the fluids. Haven't been feeling hungry at all but trying to keep up my broth intake too. Funny thing - yesterday morning before leaving the hospital someone on the floor was getting bacon for breakfast. Both my roommate and I smelled it at the same time and both of us got so nauseous! Even seeing food commercials have made me nauseous at times. Wonder if that will change soon! Well glad everyone is doing well!
Topic: RE: bummed
Oh gosh yes, I was bummed for about a day, but realized it was a blessing in disguise. I will be fine, have to see liver specialist, but my surgeon told me yesterday that he thinks with the liver dr.s approval that I will be able to have the sleeve instead of the RNY. Thats ok too., You take care , don't worry , the surgery will come soon enough and all will be a new world for you. sue
