What a great post. I don't get on here like I should and it has been great to read everyones stories. I has my VSG on 9/5/09 - one day after my 39 birthday. BEST birthday present ever!! I too haven't lost as much as I would like but I am down from 353 to 192! I am thrilled and a new person to take on my 40s. This was the best decision ever.

Thanks to everyone for their support. Wishing us all luck and control over food in the future.

I hope everything is going well for you, also.  As far as the plastics, it was posponed until March 3 because of me needing to see a specialist for massive hernias.  On the plus side,  I've lost more  weight.  Thank you for asking.

Topic: RE: Anyone do the 5 day pouch test?
Hello -
Please explain the 5 day pouch test.  I have also been stalled for a while, but, it did seem to change this past week with 6 pound loss...

This time of year is rough - last year was ok simply because anything off "the diet" was forbidden.  Now, I test what passes muster - and it's not always the best of choices.

Maybe your "test" will help to get us through the cookie/pie/candy season.

Regards,
Priscilla

I've read up on the 5 day "pouch test"  although I'm not sure why they call it that, it seems more like a test of willpower.

I am really considering it here bwtween the holidays - I've been stalled out and gained a couple pounds back mainly because of some really poor choices with all the holiday goodies lying about everywhere.

I think the volume of what I am eating is getting a little on the high side, and I definatlly think I have a thing for carbs going on.

This might be the push I need to get something going excersise wise as well... just snowed here so i really don't want to settle into the couch for the winter.

So... has anyone done this?  Was it good for you? Did you re-focus?

I had my surgery on 9/15/09.  I started the process in March of '09 at a weight of 327 and am a current weight of 158.  My goal is to lose another 28 pounds.. On January 18, 2011,  I'm undergoing plastic surgery to rid myself of the excess skin around my pelvic and upper thigh area. That should take care of roughly 15-20 pounds that I want to get rid of.
If I could go back in time,  I never would have had gastric bypass.  I spent 10 months in hospitals and rehab due to severe complications due to the operation.  Not only did I suffer pancreatic infection,  but my intestines separated from my stomach and had to undergo corrective surgery, bypass correction, and removal of 24 ounses of infection from my abdomen.  There were several times that I almost died.  Within a week of my surgery, I collapsed and place on life support.  By the time I got to nursing home for rehab, my prognosis was that, not only would I be bedridden indefinitly,  but I would also need oxygen for the rest of my life.  I've already had 1 hernia repaired and have since popped 2 more.
Before surgery, the surgeon wanted his patients to lose 10 pounds. I went to Weigh****chers and lost 40.  I should have stuck with them.

Hello.

I have to get to the gym myself.  That is the one part of this whole thingthat I've been very bad with.  My new job does have a small gym, so I try to go at least twice a week.

It looks like you've had some difficulties.  So sorry to see that.  I've been quite fortunate in the sense that I haven't had any  herniation (yet) and the surgery went well.  But, I can only count my blessings.  I hope that you stay motivated and continue to amaze  yourself.

Be well and good luck!

I'm doing ok. Having some issues but considering where I was and where I'm at it is simply amazing!  Can't wait to get cleared to rejoin exercise class.

That is sooooo awesome to see that you made it to Onederland!
I'm so proud of you!  Doesn't it feel fantastic?

I really like to shop now, how about you?  Even my husband gave up on telling me not to!  I was so looking forward to back to school night.  You should have seen some of the town snobs'... their jaws were dropping when I was working that hallway!  Oh Yeh!  Did I ever!  Poetic justice.   Oh the little things that "slim" people take for granted, well, it's so much sweeter after working so hard to get there!

You keep on your mission just as I am and we'll be two hot tamales by next summer!  Good job!

Stay healthy and stay in touch...
Priscilla
