Pre-Opt Diet??????

My Doctor did not say anything to me about a pre-opt diet, he just told me to be NPO the night before so what kind of pre-opt diet do I need to follow, for this surgery (RNY)....

I will go on Monday to be put on an optifast diet. I will be on it for two weeks and then my surgery. All doctors are different so if I were you, I would call his office and ask.

All mine requires is a  clear liquid diet the day before, and then nothing after midnight the 28th (surgery day).  I have heard of some surgeons requiring 2 weeks optifast, 2 weeks clear liquids, etc.  I would definitely call if they haven't given you anything written since it seems like every surgeon is different!  Good luck!
