Scheduled Surgeries

Hey i'm really considering the surgery and was wondering how long it took from the frist time you all went to the doctor to when u scheduled the surgery?  im wondering how long the process until surgery is and what takes place in that process.  i have done a lot of research but i would love the perspective of someone going through it...thanks!!!

My consult was on 4/30 and I had my surgery on 9/11.  My insurance(Aetna) required 3 months of supervised weight loss.  I finished the 3 months and then a week later I was approved and scheduled.

I have BC/BS of NJ. It took about 5 months. 1 month of that was waiting for COBRA to kick in. But  BC/BS requires 6 monthsof doctor supervised weightloss program....I had already been working on that and meeting with a nutritionist monthly, so I had that out of the way. It was just a lot of red tape and paperwork, letters from PCP, letter from nutritionist, etc. Finally, surgery scheduled for next week!

I had my initial consult on 3/25/ 09 and I have my surgery scheduled for 9/30/09. I have Medcost Preferred and they requied 6 months supervised weight loss program.
