I know exactly how you feel. My advice is

1. Keep reading forums that pertain to your type of surgery

2. Take notes
3. Have a positive attitude the day off

4. Remind yourself that you're doing this for you and for a good reason and ignore negative energy.

5. Prepare yourself for change and you will not be depressed because you're expecting it.

I hope this helps. oh...don't try to remember everything at once. It will come. I thought I would never remember everything; vitamins, walking, sipping, 64 ounches, 30-30-30 rule etc. but this is my 4th day out and I'm doing it. Good luck to you.

This is great to hear I am scheduled on the 21st and I am nervous and to hear from someone who just had the surgery and is doing good really helps. I am in the process of my 2 weeks of liquids and this is really tough as I am hungry and want to eat. Keep up the good work and look forward to hearing from you again.

Marie,

You're going to do well. If you don't remember anything else remember to walk. WALK, WALK, WALK. I was walking after surgery. EVERYTIME you get your pain medication get up and walk. I cannot tell you how good it felt to walk. I just came back in from walking around the block with my husband and this is only day 4.  The hospital said I was doing the best out of everyone there because I forced myself to walk. The others didn't want to get out of bed. Believe me I had the pain, but I was determined to adhere to the advice given in the threads. I thank God I listened.

Now the challenge for me is to remember that I just had surgery. I feel really good today and I just want to get out but my doctor told me this would happen so I'm reminding myself that I still have to take it slow.

One last thing...you will be given a tummy wrap to hold it in. The tighter the better. The funny thing is the nurses didn't know how to make it tight. They were all skinny though. I'm used to sucking it in and making things tighter. I will continue to update this post daily to hopefully give you inspiration. you will do GREAT!!

Yes please remember that. That stuck in my head and I think that's why I'm doing so well.  Just to update everyone....this is DAY 6 POST OP for me. The gas has gone away thanks to the walking. I'm getting my water in but sometimes I can only get in 48 ounces. This might be TMI for some but i had my second bowel movement today since I've been home so I'm very very excited about that. I think it's because of the water. I was a little nervous because the last time was Saturday but thank God it happened today.

The liquid calcium that I purchased from the Vitamin Shoppe is so nasty it makes me ill so I'm taking that back TODAY. I missed a day the other day because I simply couldn't do it. The protein is nasty too. They both make me ill. I pruchased Vanilla isopure but I'm taking my girlfriends recommendation and buying the tasteless protein so that i can mix it with everything that I eat without the taste.  I didn't get my protein in yesterday so I really really need to get on the ball with that today. The protein is CRITICAL because our bodies can't survive without it.

Lastly,  The best thing of all is I'VE LOST 10 POUNDS. YEAAAAA   *NOTE* get the cheap handheld blender from Walmart. It works like a charm and it's better to use since you will only be grinding up small tbps.

Hi,

http://www.unjury.com/ Another one that I found yesterda...which I ASOLUTELY LOVE...OMG I LOVE IT IS Nectar Lemon Tea. It's like drinking a glass of Tea. I can drink protein all day. This is sold at the Vitamin Shoppe. Now this is it right here. I love tea. I'm sipping it now.

Thank you so much for posting all this great "real time" post-op information.  I'm finding it so useful and enlightening, and your positive, upbeat attitude is very inspiring.

I haven't had my WLS yet (hoping for November), but I've had many other surgeries, the worst being open heart surgery.  Getting up and walking after that was the hardest thing I ever did, but it was also the the most productive.  Once I was able to walk, my recovery improved exponentially.  Based on my experience, I have to say your advice to sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk is spot on.  I think I'll adopt it as my mantra as I look forward to my own surgery.

Thanks again for this great inside look at the immediate post-op experience.  I hope you will continue to keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you. You're so very welcome. I'm glad that I could inspire someone. That was my goal because I needed it too. I got the sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk from another woman on this thread. I wish I could remember her name because I would really like to thank her. It helped me TREMENDOUSLY.

So much so that if it wasn't for the vitamins, protein, etc. I wouldn't believe that I had the surgery. I feel great. The challenge now is to realize that I'm still healing because every part of me wants to resume my lifestyle. I hope all is well with you and your health and that your surgery goes well. I will remember you in my prayers. Take care.
