I had the sleeve on September 11th.  I had a little pain afterwards (I was done laprascopic).  But I did have a pain pump so I could give myself pain medication if I needed it.  I probably only used it about 4 tmes and mostly because they encouraged me to.  I had an ice pack on my belly when I woke up I think that also helped with the pain. They had me out of bed and walking 6 hours after surgery.  I was only given ice chips the rest of the day then the next day I had an upper g.i. to make sure that there were no leaks.  After that I was given water and liquid protein to sip.  You need to be sure and walk walk walk and sip to make sure you pass the gas.  I went home on Saturday 2 days after surgery.  My back hurt worse than the surgery.  I have arthritis and they made me sleep at a 45 degree angle in the hospital.  I feel pretty good and am going back to work on Thursday exactly two weeks after surgery.
Good luck hope this helps.

Try taking Biotin.  That is supposed to help with the hair loss.

You may want to do some research on the DS also.
I did the RNY because it was what fit best for me.  But there are many DS'ers who swear by that surgery.

Topic: question about dr titus duncan
I have a question. I went to the seminar Dr Duncan has on Saturday. I did my registration worksheet and sent all of that in today. They said now I wait, to receive clearance requirements. Does anyone know how long that takes, and approx. how long it takes on average to get a surgery date with his practice?

Topic: RE: I'm Addicted!
I had Lap-band on Sept 10 and lost 12 lbs the first week.  Then it stopped.  I know that it is probably normal but it is hard to know how little I am eating and not see any lbs come off the scale.  So I too am addicted to the scale.  I am sure a lot of us are.

My date is also the 24th (RNY). I have a little bit of anxiety but mostly I just want to get it over with! Good luck. I'll be thinking of you.

Topic: RE: Surgery scheduled for Sept 29, 2008. Nervous, but excited
I'm doing well.  I don't feel as nervous as last week.  I just spoke to my last medical nurse regarding my surgery and what to do the weekend before surgery, what to bring to the hospital, etc.  I'll have to get my overnight bag packed.  Make sure I have pretty jammies
