Topic: Anyone else tired of this liquid diet yet? I am!

I am so ready for the liquid stage of this journey to be over with! I am finding it so hard to get all the protein in everyday and I am avoiding the hungry sensation I think it is in the head! I think I am not hungry because there are not too many all liquid meals I like. I am living on Tomato and Chicken soup.... After a week they get old! But I just keep telling myself one more week and then its mushie time! Woo Hoo!

Hi Elisa,
I had some of the same concerns you did concerning my medications.  My surgery is on the 29th.  I went to my phramacist and spoke directly to him.  He was very helpful and gave me all the answers I needed.  That's what was suggested we do in one of our classes.  Good Luck.

I had RNY last week and I can swallow all of my pills whole.  The only thing I can't take is anything time released because it will not absorb.  You may want to check on that med and if it is time released.

Good for you quiting smoking!!!!!

That is the best thing you can do for yourself!

Any pills that are time released have a coating that make them slowly release in your digestive track.  You can not take these pills after RNY because your body will not be able to digest that coating off in the same manner nor be absorbed the same.  I was just taken off of time released wellbutrin and put on the regular tablets.  I have to take one in the morning and one in the evening.  I always took it too late and ended up with insomnia at night so that is why I was taking the extended release up until now.  So, I have to try and remember to take them before dinner time and if not I have to take something for sleep at bedtime.

Also, you should never crush, cut, or break up a time released pill it can be dangerous.  They will find you something else, don't worry.

Topic: Pills and after Surgery.......Ambien CR, Diovan
Hi, I had my pre op today, my surgery is on the 30th, and I am doing great, all systems go, and she was extremely thourough in going over what she was going to do, answering all my questions, and my husbands questions, and being sure I KNEW of all the risks, and my going home situation was ok.

Anyway, she said to cut my Diovan and that I can no longer take Ambien CR because of the control release.  but.........what if I take right before bed and don't drink anything else??

and.........doesn't drinking iiquid wash everything OUT of the pouch?  how do people take pills after?  They gave me chewable disolvable prevacid and Nutranae Prenatal vitamins, have chewable BA calcium, and biotin capsules I can break apart into drinks........

Tell me about digesting pills and what I need to know please............

I have my surgery on the 30th and today was my preop and I take Diovan.  She said to take a pill cutter, I brought my pills in with me so she could see size.  also said to cut pils and they digest ok even with liquids.  but ambian cr was not going to work because of controlled release.

anyone else on ambien cr and what did your dr say?

I think some of these posters think they are posting in their local state forum.  But if you click the o.k. next to the month.  It takes you here instead.
That's the only thing I can think of.

Topic: Hi. I am new. Was banded 7 days ago.

Good Evening.

I am new to this site.  I had my lap band surgery one week ago today and I was hoping to find a place on line to go for support during this challenge.

I started this journey at 288 lbs and my first appt was on July 14th.  My surgery was Sept 17th.  I had my first follow up today and I have lost 33 lbs.  My first fill is in 3 weeks.

I know me well enough that it will really be helpful to me if I can talk to others who are going through the same things.

I hope to meet some of you soon.

Thank you for your time.

Laura

Hello,

I had my surgery 7 days ago and today was my first day back to work.  Not because I was sore but I slept a lot.
