I just now arrived home from the hospital after going through with my Lap Band after feeling very much like you do! I can't tell you how scared I was right there at the last few moments! I felt like I was doing everything I was doing for the very last time... You need to figure out if you are ready to change your life to lose the weight and live a longer, happier life with the surgical procedure you are about to undergo.
When I received final word, I immediately started on my liquid diet, and found it interesting to really enjoy it! ha! YEP, I did... BUT, the truth of the matter was: I was ready to change my life to be sure to be able to be here longer for my family and loved ones. It was a decision I had to make for ME to be able to offer me to them for as long as I can make myself live in this world. I can only live as long as I am healthy, and at 292 pounds, that would not be long with all of the family history I share...
I hope you will decide what you want to do, and make the commitment to join us. You have a tremendous support group right here. The surgery was truly a breeze. I am so happy I made the decision to undergo the procedure, and make the commitment to my life.
I hope my words are helpful to you. Your feelings are valid, and are shared by several people who will be altering their bodies to do one thing that is practically impossible for the majority of us on this site.

Well, I've just gotten home; yes, just now!!! I could not wait to come home & see how you all were doing. So, what's up with everyone? Anyone sore? Having fun w/ liquids? I'm doing great, and feel only minimal, expected pains. I can't wait to hear from you all!

I have been working on losing weight, lost 20# on my own. Surgery approved on the 23rd but delayed until the 30th of Sept. Losing the will to go thru with it.No support at home . just don't care anymore. Liittle help please. I know I sound like a whiner but i'm really not.

hey beth i too am a rn, i think it depends on your surgeon , usually 2-4 weeks for lap procedure and 4-8 for wide open procedures if things go good. good luck to you

I had thinning hair but that was because I have PCOS. The doctor told me it is a Vitamin B deficiency, so I take super B complex, and my hair is back. Ask about that.

No I am on strict liquids anything you can suck through a straw. And the protein drinks I am not liking at all. I am trying to replace them with smoothies with protein in them.

Can you have grits? Grits is on the list for my 3rd day Post Op. I am going to have some later today. I haven't been hungry at all, so I am not having problems with that. I am supposed to add Milk Protein drinks today. I am not looking forward to it.

I began taking mine before surgery and still take it now
only a little hair fell out .. not enough to notice.. and it makes your nails grow faster too as a added bonus!!
