Hello, Wereypooh!

So the 29th is your day as well!  We will have to keep up with each other to motivate and encourage our weight loss and future good health.

Please know you will be in my prayers.

I am also excited but also nervous, not about the surgery but about "life afterwards".

Keep in touch!

Thanks, JackieBeth:

It is so good to know that there are other people out there who understand what this whole process is about and are there to cheer me on!

I am starting to be hungry now at over a week out. But I am avoiding it I think sometimes its in my head because I know I have not eaten anything other then soup and smoothies for over a week now. Liquids are not that fun but I can make it til Thursday then I can start on the mushies! I am not starving its kinda like that night feeling when your stomach grawls and you try to decide if you should eat a snack or not thats what it is like. I just choose to not eat it just tell yourself no and if you do eat something just alittle bit and then get ride of it. Get up and do something to get your mind off still being hungry.

I had RNY on Sept 15th.  I was too worried about the surgery to think about life afterwards.  Everything went well with no complicaitons, so now its the life afterwards.  I am adjusting fine, but I think the hardest part has been chewing my food - alot!  I am still on pureed foods, but you still have to chew.  I dread the time I don't chew well, and then vomit.   I am NOT a big fan of vomiting.

Good Luck and hope to talk with you again.

I work at a hospital in outpatient pediatrics, so no heavy patient lifting.  But,  I am on my feet for 8-9 hours per day.  (9 hours if no lunch, which happens often).  I have my 2 wk f/u Oct 2, and I will see what the surgeon says.  I am hoping for 4 weeks off.  Good Luck!

My doctor had grits on my third day post op diet.  Anyone else try them?  I am eating some right now.  So far so good.  I hope they stay down.

Yesterday the protein shake retuned.  I don't know why it didn't agree with me, but it didn't.   So I am afraid to drink any more of them.

Tom,

I am almost 2 weeks out since my RNY.  I have been fat (no since sugar coating it) all my life.  There have been probably 5-6 times I have lost more than 100 pounds.  Never to goal weight, but close.  But I couldn't maintain it. I would gain back all I had lost, plue.  I was sick of battling obesity!  So I thought RNY was my best option for a TOOL for weight loss and maintaining it.  It is scary, and a personal decision, but so far I am extremely happy I had it done.  I also lost 30 pounds before my surgery, quit all diet coke which I drank gallons a day, quit the smoking habit I had had for 25 years, and exercise daily.  My surgery really has changed me.

I hope this helps you and I hope that you make the right decision that is best for you.

If I lived on the moon, I would only weigh 24.4 pounds.
