Topic: Milli is HOME!!!

Hello OH!  I had surgery 9-24 and was released on 9-26! I am at home now and doing well.  I woke up today and walked around and cooked breakfast for some house guests; now I am a little winded and just took my Lortab.  Everything has been going okay so far; ate 2 forksful of eggs and a spoon of grits this morning and took my vitamins.  About to rest, and then get up and walk some more.  Stomach is just a little sore with gas, but other than that I am driving and very much mobile! WOOHOOOO!!!!

Topic: RE: Grits Post Op
Thanks for your post.  Grits are working for me.  Broth is as well.  I still can't stomach the protein shakes.  Not sure why.

I am going to research high proetein foods and see if I can't live without them.

Not that I'm terribly knowledgeable about post op, as my RNY is on Sept 30th - but maybe you could take yourself back to the beginning again and pretend you've just had the surgery?  That feeling of euphoria with the weight loss?  Protein shakes, fluids - the light stuff?  Just a thought~Sandi

Hi Tom  - I'm sorry to hear your family is not supportive, but don't give up on them.  The more knowledgeable they become about this "tool" for you to change your life, the more likely they are to come around.  And when they step back and realize that your are doing this for yourself AND for them, that might give them pause for thought.  I'll be thinking of you - our surgery day is the same!  Best wishes, Sandi

I am scheduled for surgery the 30th also.  I had the same concern about my time released Cymbalta, so called the pharmacist, and was told that I couldn't dump the capsule contents.  I have my preop appt w/ my Dr. Monday, so will ask him about that.  My PCP was little help.
Good luck w/ your surgery.

See ya on the other side! :-)
