Topic: RE: Two weeks since surgery
Perry, I'm glad you are doing so well. Head hunger is terrible. I'm only a week out and haven't experienced it yet - but commercials for good food and the good smells coming from my daughters "real" meals will probably soon trigger it. When I was dieting pre-op, finding something else to do was my best solution to head hunger. I'd go read, walk, call a friend. Good luck with it... it's hard!
I start back to work today - but didn't tell anyone except my boss and my assistant. knows I had "surgery" but not what kind. I won't have weird looks right now (would make me self consious,,, why I didn't tell) but I am worried about the questions once I noticeably start losing weight. I may borrow your mantra "It's not about them, it's about me"...
Good luck. I hope things continue to go well!

Topic: RE: Pain in left side
I had surgery on the 24 my left side still really hurts. Iwas told the biggest most brutal part all happened on the left so that is why it is so much sorer that the right. I also had an infection owhere my drain was so now I have an open wound that gets "packed " (dont ask) I am sure that does not help. Can u sleep on your right? I can if i put a pillow under my stomach sort of a prop up. good luck healing! every day does seem better to me though. Shannon

Topic: RE: Looking for others that had surgery on or around 9/25
Tomorrow might be a tad too soon.. but I wanted to work two days and then have two days off and then next week I have wed or thursday off for Yom Kippur and then I have off for Columbus day. I specifically picked this time of year so I could take advantage of the working with having days off every few days.
I am the Asst. to the Director of a writing program at a state university. It's mostly a desk job. I expect to be tired and to have to take it easy. My assistant knows I just had surgery (although most of the instructors don't). We'll see if I make it through a whole day. :)
I'm lucky - I've had mostly manageable pain. I haven't taken anything the Dr. sent home with me and even in the hospital stopped the IV pain meds after 2 days. I didn't like how groggy I felt and they gave me a headache. The meds also allowed me to "do too much" which made me hurt more. When I stopped taking the meds, I was aware of when I was straining/hurting and then just rested. That seemed to help me a lot.
Good luck. I hope you start to feel better quickly!

Topic: Pain in left side
I had surgery on the 22nd. I have pain in my left side. Post Op visit was Monday and Doctor said everything is on track. When I asked about the pain, I was told it could last three to four weeks. Any suggestions or shared expereinces would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I felt that way for a couple of days, but it gets better each day. You'll notice you have a little more energy and less discomfort each day - but remember to take it easy and don't over-do! Also, try as best as you can to get in all of the protein (that will help you regain strength and heal) and water.
My best wishes are being sent to you right now through this email!!!! ;)

Hello! I had Distal Gastric Bypass on 9/23. In 6 days I was down 15 pounds! Hoping to have continued success. Feeling pretty good...can't wait to get on those pureed foods in less than a week now.

Teri, how did the Dr visit go?
I hear you on the shakes and I haven't been drinking mine either, just the THOUGHT makes me ill. I know I HAVE to, I'm just trying to work myself into it, blech.
You're taking vitamins already? I started on my 2 weeks so yeah, and those are just the chewable ones. Although I did order liquid which I might try, to get a higher amt of vitamins in me. I'm so weak.
Let us know how it went, k?
