Topic: RE: How are you doing (September Surgeries)???
Hi Kids,
I had my surgery on 9/12 and have lost 10 lbs pre op and 35 post for a total of 45.
I, too have been stalled for at least 2 weeks now and I'm tired of it, lol
Don't think I eat enough, I barely make 500 calories and I believe I should be eating 700. I just can't do it, no matter what I eat, I don't get higher.
I've been totally constipated forever and I think that has something to do about it, so now taking laxatives to get things moving and I feel a bit better now.
But I haven't had any issues, like dumping... I've vomited 2x I believe due to not chewing my food completely. Lesson learned.
I DO think I'm losing inches though, which is odd, my clothes are just hanging on me now, lol
But just wanted to check in as well :)

Hi Gina,
I had surgery on the 22nd, and I have lost thirty eight pounds since surgery..and I had lost 14 before surgery. I, too, hit a terrible stall, it was just going up and down...but Monday the scale started moving again. I swear, I saw the surgeon and the nutritionist and Stall Hit. It was like my body said -- OH STOP after hearing their voices. But the stall lasted two weeks..so hopefully yours will end soon.
I am doing well on mushies..although I can't wait to start adding real food. I was supposed to go to my surgeon last Monday (the other day) but he had to reschedule, so that meant another week of mushie. I meet with the nutritionist today for my one month follow up (a little late). I am hoping to see I lost a few inches while on this stupid stall.
I am getting in plenty of protein, and I love the feeling of control. If I don't want any more I throw it out. I want to start going to the gym and walking the treadmill...to help speed up this weight loss. I really want to make the best of the first six months.
I can't wait to see how others are doing!

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey. I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.
My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once. I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.
Topic: How are you doing (September Surgeries)???
There are not a ton of posts on this board. I think it is because we all had surgery less than 2 months ago. We are all new and probably searching all of the other boards for answers to our questions. I am sure many of us are experiencing the same things or we have very recently. I would like to hear how you all are doing. Brag or whine...what ever you need to do, but I would love to get to know come of my fellow September surgery mates! This is a copy from another support website. But, I thought it was cute. They called themselves the "September Samurais"! We could call ourselves that too! We are each warriors because we have come this far in our battle with weight loss! Congratulations to each of you!
Here is a little bit about me-
I had my surgery September 18th. I have lost 26 lb since surgery but have been on a terrible plateau for at least 2 weeks now. I think my body is rebelling and hanging on despite the fact that I have followed my food plan really well. I chart my food daily on the "daily plate". I love it. I think I could get more protein and maybe more calories. I am averaging 55 grams of protein and 673 calories per day. This is an average of the past 7 days. 2 days I got up to 800 cal. I am wondering how many calories everyone else is eating? I know I am what many consider a light weight, so I feel sacred to add too many calories until I really get into the exercise. I know this is my missing component. My goal is to get committed after I get back from a road trip next week.
I am driving 12 hours with 6 other girls (family members) to my sister's baby shower in Utah (she is having twin boys). I will be fine, but I am starting to freak out about being on such a long trip in the car! I am planning to bring a ice chest with healthy choices and I know I will have no choice but to eat right or I will dump out in the desert! Not a good thing! But, still... I wonder how hard it is going to be trapped in a car with everyone else eating fast food and junk food. Hopefully it will repulse me! Wish me luck!
I am open to suggestions and would love to hear about each of you and how you are doing. I update my blog fairly often for myself & so I can remember this all someday. Plus I want to be able to help out others in the future when I am a WLS graduate.
Take care and I hope to hear from lots of you!
I will update you all after I get back from my trip next week. I am leaving at 5am on Thursday!

I had my band on the 30th as well. It is gas. Use gas X strips and drink water. Walk and drink. the more you move around the better. It goes away. Don't forget they blow up your body with air so they can work. That air has to work it's way out.
Mine is gone now but once in a while it will strike again.

did you find out why it was hard for you to keep your food down? let me know ... yvonne
Topic: RE: I need help please, don't know how to eat.
Hi mind if I jump in?
From what it looks like to me your body is just in catch up mode , sometimes your going to stop losing and those are the times you lose the inches , So relax about that for now.
It doesn't seem to me your getting in enough protine to satisfy your bodies needs , did you know you need 800 cal a day just to get you brain and vital organs to work?
If you can't handle the protine shakes at least drink milk , it has protine, and good carbs and vitamins in i****ch for the sugars in the fruit shakes sometimes they are not as good for you as they may seem. When picking things out to eat look for things with high protine , carbs less then 15-20 per serving and sugars less then 10 per serving , not easy but doable.
Constipation happens when the body lacks enough water for the system to digest and remove what we don't need , drink as much water in between as you can fit in.
WALK , even if it is only 15 min a day walk walk walk, even if it's just throughout your home.
You don't have to cook to eat though. I'll list some "meals" I started out on way back when..hehe
Chicken parmasian... 1/2 slice of chicken or turkey chopped fine or ground in a small chopper , 1 tsp spagetti sauce over top , sprinkle some cheese over that , microwave for a few seconds or eat cold sprinkled with parmisian cheese
Refried beans .. 1 tbsp beans, 1 tsp salsa or a drizzle of taco sauce, enough water to make it creamy, srinkle cheese over it , heat in microwave.
Egg drop soup , okay this one needs a bit of cooking at first , 1 can beef or chicken broth , pour into saucepan, heat to a boil while scrambling up an egg or two depends on how much you like. When the broth is at a boil drizzle the egg into broth , it will cook as it goes in. I had 1/2 c when I made it and then I heated and drank it throughout the day.Get low sodium broth.
Toco no wraps 1 tbsp toco meat, when you cook it make sure you crumble the meat small so it digests easy , 1 tsp refried beans (can make bigger batch of earlier beans without cheese), toco sauce and cheese. microwave and eat.
Things I ALWAYS keep on hand for a quick protine fix even now 3 yrs out.
Cheese
String cheese
peanut butter
yogert
eggs
chicken,turkey
cottage cheese
refried beans
tuna(sometimes it settles sometimes it wont)
10% fat hamburger
What kind of things are you picking up on the way home, maybe I can help with that also.
Make sure you measure and eat on a time schedule , I would also "foret" to eat and my tummy would cramp bad and come to figure out it would be like 7 hours since I ate not good for the wee little tummy.
Now I make sure I eat something even if it is just 1/2 a cheese stick or a yogert every 4 hours.
If I forgot anything or you want to know more, just let me know. Hope this helps you out.

Topic: I need help please, don't know how to eat.
I'm having trouble, I'm 1 1/2 months out, have lost 42-45 pounds depending on the day, but this has been the same for 2 weeks now.
I'm wondering if I'm eating too much or not eating enough??
I ONLY eat protein really.
Breakfast is usually a fat free yogurt
lunch is some sort of meat, chicken breast, tuna etc
Dinner is the more difficult one, it's hard coordinating with DH since he is a odd eater.
We have resorted again to "picking something up" on the way home from work, instead of cooking. We're not big cookers.
I don't know what to do, what I'm doing wrong, but I've stopped dropping. I'm still walking a few times a week. Just walked for 8 hours at Disneyland yesterday... and that was a WOW for me, cuz I couldn't do that before if my life depended on it!
I'm going to start daily plating it again and see where I'm going wrong. I haven't been doing milk based protein shakes, I've been buying them in the smoothie section, its a fruit juice based protein, 30 grams in one shake and I drink that throughout the day. I can't take the other shakes anymore they make me want to vomit.
Oh and I've been constipated, I go maybe 1x a week and I'm working on that.
So, sorry for the ramble but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I eat until I'm satisfied or I just 'forget" to keep eating and then put it away.
Any suggestions, Please?

Topic: RE: HELP...CAN ANYONE EAT AS MUCH AS ME!!!! SCARED...A LIL BIT!
Hi all, I'm new to boards. Wish I had found these PRIOR to my surgery.
I too feel like I can eat pureed foods endlessly, but I stick with 4 oz and have only eaten protein and dry Cheerios for breakfast. I had my surgery on 9/8 RNY. I feel I'm eating too much too and my weight loss totally stopped about 3 weeks ago --- I lost 10 pds first week, 15 next 3 weeks and then nothing for last 3 weeks . . . I don't understand why. I started an official exercise program last week --- 3 x a week.

Topic: Welcome to my world !
I just wanted to stop by and tell you all how proud I am of each of you for making the choice to be a healthier , happier you.
Yes I know it may not seem like it right now but you will be, trust me.
I was 488 lbs when I went in for my first consult, 345 the day of sugery and I am now 216lbs.
It wasn't easy and some days it still isn't, but it WAS and still IS very worth it, I am so glad I made the choice also.
I don't claim to have all the answers but If I can help , just post a question here and I will try to answer it best I can. Even if you just want to know different things about how it will be later down the line.
Again , just wanted to let you all know I am SO proud of you !!
