I'm not eating much. I'm having trouble with my fluids and with eating too much/too fast and having to yack it up.

Yesterday I had:

B: Eggbeasters (1/4 c.)
L: 1/2 oz. Chicken Spread, couple bites of veggies
S: Fuse drink
D: Lean Dessert Chocolate Coconut protein drink (1.5 scoops)

Protein: 45 g (well below target of 70 - 100 g)
Calories: 350
Fluids: 64 oz. !! First day in a long time I managed that

Exercise: 30 min. on treadmill, alternating walking/jogging

Last week was worse though. This week I seem to be able to drink protein shakes again so that should help. I'm already over 30 g. of protein and 200 calories and that's just with breakfast.

I really don't like the protein shakes I rather eat that drink.  I love beef jerky.  I get the soft ones from costco.

Topic: Nexium - Discount Card
I am not sure if some of you know this but there is a card from Nexium that can give you a savings.  I didn't know about this until yesterday when I went to see my PCP.  I was asking him if Nexium has a generic because my insurance don't cover too much and I have to pay a $55 co-pay.  He asked if my surgeon gave me a card for Nexium.  I was like what?  He then gave me this card that says Purple Plus Savings Card.  You can visit the web site www.purplepill.com/index.aspx . I haven't used the card yet but he told me that I wouldn't have to pay the $55 and only will have a payment of $5.00 I can live with that.

This is just for your information.

Wow! Congrats on getting all of your protein from food! I am very jealous!

I don't count calories either, by the way. I'm trying to only think about protein and serving size.

Topic: RE: How are you doing (September Surgeries)???
I'M BACK!!!!  I had a great trip all things considered.  It was a little hard watching everyone eating all the yummy foods at the baby shower & the Halloween party, but in a strange way at times it was not.  I know I did not drink enough water and did feel a little light headed one day.  But, again overall it was so great to see my family, & see my sister pregnant, that it wiped out the fact that I was sore and exhausted from the drive!  I had to eat sunflower seeds to stay awake on the trip home.  It was quite stormy, so I mainly drove (my Mom helped out a lot too).  The funny but not so funny thing is the morning we left was the time change.  My daughter set her alarm for me for a fee minutes before 5am so I could jump into the shower before everyone got in the car to go.  Well, let's just say that I woke up at 3:30 am to her alarm because she set it 30 minutes early for me, plus she did not change the time on the clock!!!  I did not know this until I was out of the shower and knocking on my Mom's door asking why she was not up yet!  So, I got about 3 1/2 hours sleep that night plus about an hour while my Mom was driving.  So, I ate all of these sunflower seeds, with fat and salt...  I come home and I am down 4 lb!!!  I can't believe it, becasue I was not an angel the entire trip either.  I ate 2 malt balls on Halloween and I just ended up higher on calories while traveling.  I did have my shake every morning and I ate the South Beach Protein bars when hungry, so I overall did really good.  Something new I tried, was shrimp.  It is so low in calories, low in fat, and so high in protein it is amazing.  My friend who is 5 yrs post op said to quit trying to eat chicken and stick with the shrimp it digests better.  It went every well until the second night I ate 4 instead of 3 shrimp and I was in so much pain!!!  I have had this problem recently a few times (I am embarrassed to admit) that I eat a bite too much and then it hurts so bad I go make myself throw up just a little to get some relief.  I have only thrown up off of meat that I tried once way too early, then chicken twice, and the shrimp just the one time.  The chicken always comes out with at least a small piece that does not look like it was chewed well enough... So, I know either way I am causing these incidents and I have hard consequences to follow.  I have to slow down, listen to my body to carefully, and just eat less when it is these types of foods.

As far as breaking the plateau, I am not sure I have.  I will see if it sticks as a true wt loss.  I really hope so!  This morning I was up a little, so I am not sure.  If it stays and continues I will be thrilled!

Here are some pictures from my trip!

I am so glad to see all the updates from you all!  I know we are struggle a little in some way, and some more than others, but we will all be here to lend support on the journey no matter what!

Take care,
Gina

Topic: RE: Eating is no fun

I don't know what will happen later, but I have to advocate, that although it may be dissapoiting to not find pleasure in food anymore, that's the point! Embrace it! We are food addicts that get a little high off of our eating. So cliche, but eat to live, don't live to eat.

I wish I had more problems eating. Other than at the VERY begginning, I don't have a problem with most foods I've tried. I can also eat a little more than I thought I would. As tormenting as it can be, I want this surgery to do its best.

That being said, I know its rough. We spend our lives celebrating with food and now, overnight, GONE!  Very traumatic. You can do it though!

You'll be so happy from your new body that you won't care about food anymore.

Topic: What are YOU eating??

So, I thought I would add to Gina's lovely post, asking you all for updates on your sucess from surgery. So my question is, what are you eating?
Everyone reports being in a different place, so I thought it would be fun if everyone posted what they ate, and how much at their last full day of meals? How much did you exercise?

Here's mine (Monday's menu):

B- Chocolate Protein Shake (30g)
L- 4 oz cottage cheese (11g)
D- 3 oz crab &egg (9g)
S- 1/2 protein bar (7g)

Protein- 57g
Calories- about 640
Exercise: 60 minutes Zumba
Fluids- 70 oz
This was a very good day for me!! There are worse!
