You are doing great just keep it up. Keep eating you need to fuel yourself. I notice sometimes that the more I ate the more I lost. Good luck.

Topic: Anyone have surgery on 9/30/08?
I was just wandering if anyone had RNY on 9/30/08. I want some people to relate with on foods, questions about certain issues, and how much weight people have lost.

First thing's first, calm down, you didn't blow anything. I am 6 months out and have lost 83 lbs. I don't feel like i've blown anything either. It takes some people longer to lose the amount of weight they need to. There are many factors that contribute to that. But the fact is, you have a tool and it will help you achieve your goals. I was told by my surgeon that the window for the most weight loss is 18 months. even after that though, you can still lose. Best of luck!
Topic: I AM 6 MONTHS AND I BLEW IT!
I am really disgusted with myself............. I am 6 months with a loss of only 82 lbs (starting 350). I have been checking out the losses for other people in my weight range and either they have hit 100 or passed 100 for the same time frame.
I followed the food plan but I did not consistently exercise due to issues with my knees. So now I have been trying to play catch up, by taking aquatic aerobics 5 days a week 45 minutes.
I just hope I didnt blow it to badly because I know the most important time frame is the first 6 months. I want to cry!!!!!!!

Topic: RE: HELP ME PLEASE.............4 week plateau
It looks like I may have busted the plateau. I lost a lb in then a half lb. Not much but better than stand still!
Topic: RE: HELP ME PLEASE.............4 week plateau
If you want to break a plateau, you have to change things up.
First, if you aren't tracking your food, start! If you are tracking, look for patterns. Have you let your protein slip a bit? Are carbs creeping up? Are you still getting in all your water on a regular basis?
Then, for your exercise, you can't keep doing the same thing at the same level of intensity. As you get more fit, you will burn less calories doing the same thing. So you have to increase the time or the intensity. Or you can try a new exercise so you are working a different part of your body.
Some common stall busters are:
1) drink more water
2) consume more protein
3) consume less carbs
4) change up your exercise
I have tracked my food and exercise religiously since I started. Every time my weight loss slows down, I look at my records and I always find a cause. I correct that cause and my weight loss picks right back up.

Topic: RE: Should I be able to eat this much at 6 months out?
We have the same surgiversary! I have found that I can eat more lately too. So don't worry. I have eaten whole wheat bread, but I haven't tried eating an actual sandwich. I have lost 83 lbs thus far, you've done great! How much more are you looking to lose?
Topic: HELP ME PLEASE.............4 week plateau
I am nearly at a 4 week plateau and I totally understand the whole concept of plateau is that your body doesnt want to lose weight because it is afraid of starvation and also it has gotten used to the calories/workout routine, BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG THE PLATEAU WILL LAST???? I CANT BEAR ANOTHER WEEK OF THIS.
Topic: RE: Should I be able to eat this much at 6 months out?
I had my surgery on 9/29 and I'm down 65 pounds. I too notice that I can eat more - I try not to though. For me,the week before my menstrual cycle is the worst. Instead of craving sweets like I used to, I know crave salty. isn't that strange? I've been trying to log my food everyday on the dailyplate.com because I think that really helps witht the portion control and I also realize how many calories I'm consuming.

You need to read "Shape Up with the Slow Fat Triathlete". She's a great writer and the whole book is about being as fit as you can in the body you have instead of being perfect. I just love her attitude toward exercise and life, too.
