welcome ... congratulation on starting your journey .... I have found that it depends on the ins. about how long it take .....and if their is a weight goal before surgery ..but i have seen on here anywheres between 4 months - 1 yr... so check with your doctor and ins...

Hello, My surgery is also scheduled for Sept 2. I received the date in June and at that time it seemed SOOOO long away. Now, its just one month from tomorrow!! Whoo, hoo! I still find it pretty unbelievable that this is actually going to happen. Its almost surreal to me. I've been heavy for so long (I know you all know that story!). I'm so excited that a dream will finally come true and I'll be given a new lot on life. Its been a long process though.......I first tried to get approved in May 2007, denied, had to go through 6 month dr supervised weight loss program, lots of hoops to jump with my insurance and then finally approved the end of May 2008. whew! Anyway, just wanted to share and say "hi" since we will be having surgery on the same day!! Will you be on a liquid fast before surgery? I have to start on liquids 2 weeks prior.....on 8/19. Not looking forward to that, but I know its a means to an end! Lisa
