I am so excited!!! I fly out on Aug. 31st to Mexico for VSG surgery with Dr. Armando Joya on Sept. 1st!! I have struggled with this decision so long it is like lifting a huge burden off my shoulders. I am finally going to be able to get on with my life. Please make room for one more in the September Losers.

I have to be on a 9 day liquid before surgery but that is so i can shrink my liver ... it all depend on the doctor and the type of surgery you're going to have ...

Everyone doctor is different. For some patients my doctor requires a 2 week liquid diet and some patients he requires a 1 day liquid diet. So far I have been told a 1 day liquid diet for me.

I think it totally depends on the surgeons preference. My surgeon wants only a 3 day liquid diet pre-op but I know people who have to be on a liquid diet for a few weeks. It aids in reducing the size of your liver to make it easier during surgery. I hope this is helpful.

1Has anyone found out yet if they have to do a preop diet.
I don't have my Nutrition consult until next week and I am unsure if they will have me to the liquid diet. It seems as though some people have to do it and some don't and I'm not sure why.

Mona!! I just got the call from my Drs. office at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital that my date is on September 10 just a day before yours!! I am very excited for you and myself.
