Hello, it seems like everyday I think of something else I need clairified before I can have this surgery.  It's so nice to know that you and others are going "under the knife" on the same day.  Somehow, it makes me feel so not alone.  I keep reading posts and getting more inside information, but there are two things I have not seen posted. (1) the central line they put in your neck, and (2) those of us who gained weight because of other diseases and medication.  The latter causes me much concern.

Does everyone get the Central Line?  I have always been afraid of needles.  When I was 7 it took 10 people to hold me down for a shot.  I ended up being a Med Tech and did my own share of sticking needles in people, go figure.  But I am a bit concerned with having a central line put in my neck.  Odd, I'm not concerned with the surgery itself; I'll be out for that, but this concerns me.  I've seen enough of them in my career, but never once thought one would end up in me.  I feel like a baby, and should be ashamed, but baby it is.

I'm going to ask about it tomorrow at the PAT.  Wish me luck.

Whoo Hooo! Not much longer now, Lisa! Can you believe it less than a week???
I find it SO cool that we both will be having surgery on 9/02 and have the same first name and live in the same state!
I'm slightly nervous, but not much......my main concern is getting everything done at my job before I'm off for a couple of weeks, gettting the house in order and getting kids ready for back to school. I hate that I will be in the hospital the first couple of days the kids are getting back to school......it can't be helped, though. I just hope my husband survives the stress of it all.

Any one else having to do a liquid fast like me? I am on protein shakes, clear liquids and cream soups right now until the day before surgery.  On Labor Day (no holiday party for me!) I will be on clear liquids only and have to drink something for a "bowel prep". Sounds throughly disgusting, but I guess its a means to an end and all the prep will make the surgery easier for the surgeon and safer for me. Anything to lower the risks of complications and infection. I've been severly infected several times after surgery and it is no fun at all.
