Should I be able to eat this much at 6 months out?
Hi Everyone,
I had my RNY on 9/17/08 so I'm 6 months out and down 106 lbs. which I think is good but this past couple of weeks, I've notice a big difference in the amount I'm able to eat. Is this normal? The last few days I've been able to eat bread which I haven't been able to touch at all since surgery. I was able to eat 3/4ths of a 6 inch sub at subway. Is that bad? I'm just not sure. Today, I ate two tacos for lunch. Now, this is not all days. It's weird because some days I can't eat much at all, but I've really started noticing that more days than not I can eat much more than I have been able to up to this point.
I go to my 6 month check in next week, but knew you all would have some insight and experiences that would help me. Thanks in advance!
Laura

Sounds pretty close to what I can eat. I notice that I can eat a lot more however I try not to. My nut told me to snack on food instead of Protein drinks because we get full on food. I am always eating beef jerky for snacks or carrots.
I did go out to eat with my bosses for lunch last week and I ate fish, broccoli and some soup. I was still a little hungry so I grabbed a brownie. Well I ate about half of a square and then put it in my left over soup and covered it. I know that if I didn't I could have eaten the whole thing so the best thing is to cover it with crap. To funny.
I will eat what I want to however I am learning portion control. I might have to start weighing my food again.

I had my surgery on 9/29 and I'm down 65 pounds. I too notice that I can eat more - I try not to though. For me,the week before my menstrual cycle is the worst. Instead of craving sweets like I used to, I know crave salty. isn't that strange? I've been trying to log my food everyday on the dailyplate.com because I think that really helps witht the portion control and I also realize how many calories I'm consuming.
We have the same surgery date 9/17/08. I too have started eating "snacking" more. I had to rid of the Fiber One bars and all snack foods and pick uo the protein, water, and complete meals. Also, I have noticed that if I keep busy .... food is not an issue. Good Luck, and keep up the spirits... remember everyday is a new day.

Thanks for your posts! I went to my 6 month check up and my nut and PA were very pleased with my 106 lbs loss and after reviewing my food diary, they said my portions were right on track for 6 months out. I found out that i'm not eating as much as I think I am when I really look at it. It's so weird that some days I can eat quite a bit and other days I can barely eat anything. My RNY is strange but I love it! Best thing I've ever done for myself!
I'm REALLY slowing down in the weight loss. I started at 325 and I weighed 215 this a.m. I would LOVE to lose about 30 more but I don't know if that's going to happen. My nut told me to focus on protein and fruits and veggies for the main portion of every meal or snack and the weight will continue to come off. I guess the girl scout cookies I ate didn't help much.
