gallbladder anyone?
I had my RNY in September 2008 and have lost 72 lbs! This past week I had a gallbladder attack and had to have removed yesterday, it was full of little stones. I am just wondering if most of you had yours taken out at surgery time or if this is common? I am a little angry about having 2 surgeries in 5 months and now I feel weak and yucky again, unable to workout. The surgeon who took my gallbladder out also found some type of tubing left from the gastric bypass, which he said I would have had to have another surgery to remove anyway....angry!!!
I can see being angry about the tubing.
But the gallbladder stuff can be hard to stop happening. Most surgeons won't take it out at the time of surgery unless there is something wrong with it. But they will prescribe something to help keep stones from forming. It doesn't always work, but it's better than not doing anything. Did you at least get that?
I lost my gallbladder in '89 so it was all moot for me.

I also had my gallbladder out pre-RNY, but my sister's was taken out at the time of hers. Perhaps it's the pollyanna in me, but it's kind of lucky that you had to get the gallbladder out because who knows what kind of infection that tubing could have caused?? It may not seem like a blessing now (and I'm so sorry that you can't work out....that stinks) but I hope that it has prevented some pain in the long run.
Meanwhile, take care of yourself and congrats on your 72lbs! That's AWESOME (and i'm a bit jealous...hehe)
