Eating is no fun
I am having a terrible time with my diet. I am only getting around 500-600 calories a day and I am short on my protein by 10-15 grams. Carbs.....forget it. Can NOT get those under control..... I am way over almost everyday..... I can't seem to cut them out completely.... any suggestions??? Is there anything I can substitute? I can't seem to just eat meat and vegetables all the time....
I had my first fill a couple of weeks ago and since then when I eat I get this, pressure (for lack of a better word) after I eat. I haven't gotten sick but I don't feel good. Is this because I am eating too fast or not chewing properly? or both? '
I also have an issue (mental I'm sure) that all the fun has been taken out of eating. I no longer enjoy sitting down to a good meal, especially when I have to chew until there is no taste left. Do you think that will change or is that just the way it is going to be from now on?
Thanks for listening. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated....

First let me tell you , this will pass, I'm 3 yrs out and have been where you are.
I had a different kind of surgery but the results are the same , it changed the way we live and eat now. Some days it does still seem like a chore and not worth the effort but most days I am thankful I did this. Think about it, the next time your eating in a group.
When was the last time any of those people actualy tasted the food they are ingesting? When was the last time it took them more then 4 or 5 bites to eat a burger. We now get the pleasure of tasting what it is we put in our mouth , and to be honest once I slowed down and had to taste the food, there were alot of things I realized I didn't even like ,and other things I found I loved.
Your right , for awhile the fun will be gone , it will be work BUT as you get further out it will be good again. We also get the advantage of being able to like food for what it is NOT because it's the next thing on our plate. I look at this way if I am only going to eat so much food at a time I'm going to make it count for me. I don't sp much eat carbs anymore because I see them as fillers , why else would they bring you rolls first in a restraunt, cheep easy fillers.
The pressure is the bodies way of saying stop it your full when your brain hasn't gotten there yet. Try and take notice of that and watch for it , lets say for lunch due to the fact you said you eat carbs still, say your lunch is tomatoe soup and crackers.. Measure it out, say 1/2 c soup and 4 crackers , when you get the preasure where are you in the meal? all done? all but 2 crackers? all the crackers and half the soup? Now adjust that to stop before the preasure. SAy it is all the crackers and half the soup , since you KNOW the soup is the better option here try eating 1/2 the soup then having a cracker or two broke up in the soup if thats how you like it , leave the other 2 crackers in the kitchen put away don't even take them out as an option.
Next you have to look at WHY your eating that way. Do you REALLY love those carbs? are you just so used to eating them it is a habbit, Where you a clean plate kid so if you have it you HAVE to eat it? Once you find the sourse you can work on the issue.
Add in protine by adding in a glass or two of milk through the day , it will add calories and good carbs and it will add protine also BUT you can get 1% or 2% and cut the fat count down.
I don't believe eating carbs is bad , I still eat them BUT it's how much and when you eat them. I always make them the last thing I eat for my meal and If I don't finish whats on my plate , it's doesn't get to be the first thing I eat next time, I start over again , protine, veggies, fruit, then carbs, usualy I run out of room before I get to carbs.
I hope this helped out in some way.

I don't know what will happen later, but I have to advocate, that although it may be dissapoiting to not find pleasure in food anymore, that's the point! Embrace it! We are food addicts that get a little high off of our eating. So cliche, but eat to live, don't live to eat.
I wish I had more problems eating. Other than at the VERY begginning, I don't have a problem with most foods I've tried. I can also eat a little more than I thought I would. As tormenting as it can be, I want this surgery to do its best.
That being said, I know its rough. We spend our lives celebrating with food and now, overnight, GONE! Very traumatic. You can do it though!
You'll be so happy from your new body that you won't care about food anymore.
