How are you doing (September Surgeries)???

Hi, I'm Lisa and had my surgery on 9/8.  After reading all your posts and weight loss so far I really am worried that I am doing something wrong.   I think I have the lowest weight loss and am the furthest post-op.  I lost 9 lbs the first week, 16 lbs next 3 weeks and NOTHING since ---- that's 3 1/2 weeks with no loss.  I eat between 55-65 gr of protein a day.  Pretty much only eating mushed protein ---- I puree chicken breast and add yogurt for consistency (then I do add 1 tsp mayo ---- improves flavor so much).  I eat a lot of fish, shrimp, tuna, low-fat cheese.  Calorie count is betw 700-900 a day.  I tend to eat 4 times a day (3 meals and 1 snack).  I actually LOVE my protein shakes ---- I freeze them ---- I make 4 shakes at a time (2 scoops - GNC why protein - 52), add 2 scoops non-fat dry milk, then water to the 28 oz line in the blender.  I then blend, pour into plastic glasses ---- then ----- here is my key --- I freeze them.  When I'm ready for my "desert" (aka snack), I take out of freezer 30 min ahead --- let thaw slightly then use a knife to make the ice like shaved ice ---- I feel like I'm eating chocolate ice milk --- or one of those sf fudgicles ---- every day.  I take my Centrum Silver chewable, Calcuim Citrate Supplements, B12 sub-linqual.  I just ordered some Biotin and some probotics but haven't received them yet.

About 3 weeks ago I joined a gym ---- first time since "Elaine Powers" back when I was 18 --- long long time ago.   I really don't want to over do the exercise --- I want to only do what I feel I can do forever ---- I feel like that is about 30-45 minutes 3 x a week.  I know I should do more but I don't want my body to think its going to get more forever!!!!

Funny, I got my period 2 days after surgery ----- pain.  Got the October on Schedule ---- we'll see going forward ----- I'm ready for that whole scenario to be OVER.

I haven't figured out how to get the ticker to work, as you can see . . .
Nor how to change the ICON to a picture

I have been trying to figure out these boards and jumping from forum to forum not sure where I should go or belong.  Also wondering if there is a search function somewhere?

The Barix near me is having a support group on Saturday and even though I did not have my surgery at a Barix clinic, they said I can come over --- so I think I will.

I think you are doing just fine.  Since we are light weights you will see the weight come off much slower however the % of weight loss will be about the same.  If you go to the main forum on the left you will see user settings that is where you make your signature.  If you click on my ticker it will take you to the ticker website to make yours.  After you make it just right click on the image and copy and place it in you signature line.  It is that easy.

Good luck,
Asia

Hello everyone! I had my Rny Sept. 15. 2008 I have lost 36 lbs since surgery and 17 before on the liquid diet. I haven't lost anything last week or this week. But sounds like every one here has gone through.   I love to see how everyone is doing on this board.

I have good days and bad days. Today is a bad day.

I have trouble eating and drinking without pain or I can't get my fluids in. It's either I slow down and am dehydrated or I am in pain. It's really frustrating.

My average calories are just under 600 a day. About 80 g of protein.

I'm trying to excersize 4 times a week but most weeks it's only 3. I need to do more.

WL is in fits and spurts. 1 lb. one week, 5 the next. I finally hid my scale. So I have no idea if this is a good week or a bad week. It feels like a bad one based on my clothes though.

Hello all...
I had surgery on 9/30 and have lost a total of 21 pounds since surgery. but I ahven't lost anything in the past two weeks.  Surgeon says I am doing great.  I am trying to stay positive and focused on the task ahead, but is is not easy getting in all the required stuff everyday.  But each day is getting better and better.

I am an RNYer.  Since my pre-op appointment on September 2nd (which was the beginning of my 2-week liquid diet) I've lost 48 pounds.  I was at a stall, but it seems to have lifted now, thank goodness!!  I need my mom to hide my scale, too!!

I eat around 600-700 calories a day.  My clothes are super baggy, but I can't afford new ones right now so I've been taking them in.  I'm sure they look terrible, but I want to lose a bit more before I buy new clothes.  And even then I plan to go to resale shops until I'm close to goal.

At first I was so deprressed about having the surgery, but now I am so thankful.  I'm getting my energy back and am feeling good.  I've had no problems, except "dumping syndrome" twice from drinking 2% milk, but even that wasn't too bad.  I just love 2% milk.

My favorite thing to eat is little mini pizzas I make from low fat tortillas, pizza sauce, and low fat cheese.  They're yummy.

I just love my RNY!!

Have you ever tried over the moon milk? The nonfat tastes just like 2%...and has 10g of protein.

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

Hi Ladies! (maybe some gentlemen too?

I am so glad to see all of the posts!  We are going to be on this journey together.  We all will have different ups and downs but it is so great that we will have this forum to talk on!!!

I am in Utah on a quick vacation to come to my baby sister's baby shower (she is having twin boys)!!!!  I can't wait to come back on my own computer and report in with you all.  right now I have to go to bed because we are getting up at 5am Utah time to drive back to Sacramento, ca.  That is 12 hours with a few stops to get out and walk plus get gas.

I hope this forum grows!  thank you for those of you *****sponded.  Everyone is doing great!  I know it is not hard to compare, but we are all different and will have different milestones, goals, and accomplishments.  Let's all just support each other, encourage each other and try to answer questions we may have.

I like the September Sisters, but that might be considered sexist.  So, if everyone wants we can be the September Samurais.  Open to suggestions!

I will chat with you all when I get home!!!  It is my baby girls Birthday tomorrow, she is turning 3 years old!!!  I can't believe it.  I miss my hubby and my little ones so bad!  Can't wait to get there!
Take care,
Gina

Hello everyone!  I had distal bypass surgery on Sept. 23rd and as of today, I've lost 43 pounds.  I've been frustratingly weighing myself everyday and have been on a plateau for the last 4 or 5 days.  I looked up some tips on the website concerning plateauing and the words exercise and walking kept popping up.  I admit that I haven't walked nearly as much as I should and am going to make a commitment to go on at least a 30 minute power walk everyday.  I've also been wanting to lift some weights to keep things tight, but haven't yet.  For 4 weeks after my surgery, I was diligent about drinking my protein shakes everyday, but got really burned out on them.  I admit I haven't been counting every single gram of protein that I consume everyday since I slowed down on the shakes, but I swear I've been taking in enough: cottage cheese, string cheese, tuna etc... One of the meals I've become accustomed to for a week or so is a small baked potato with a little 2% cheddar cheese on top and some Smart Balance butter substitute.  Perhaps I should cut these out of the diet!  I got a little nervous about potatoes reading the plateau tips as well.

I must admit that after reading everyone's stories concerning their plateaus, I'm somewhat encouraged that I'm not alone, and that it's normal.  Hopefully, all of us will start seeing those pounds drop again very soon.  Perhaps I should throw my scale out the bedroom window, or simply weigh in once a week.  It's difficult to pass by the scale in my bathroom and not step on it.  I purchased a Biggest Loser scale from Target and love it...or actually...I hate it!!!

Looking forward to reading about everybody's developments as time goes by.

Regards,
Joey Costanza
