I am home from RNY
I am now home from surgery got home Wednesday Evening! Surgery went very smoothly. No complications at all. I am very very sore and in quite a bit of pain. Everytime I get up or down it hurts terribly. Kinda like a pinching feeling. Now that I am home it is really hard to get in protein. I am really not hurgery at all. But everytime I get up I sip, sip, sip. But I am worried about not getting in all the protein in this liquid stage. All I feel like doing is sleeping. Well kinda weird also but It seems I sleep better during the day than at night. At night I lay there in pain and dread getting up to get medicine. Well anyhow I hope all this gets better! At least there are no complications and all is going as it should.

You will start feeling better and better each day... I assure you! I had my RNY on Sept 4th. I came home on the 6th and was BACK on the 7th. Didn't get home again til the 10th. I was in some major discomfort... had too much swelling so nothing was moving inside me. Once i got home the second time things were much different. I was able to drink my fluids and meals. Each day I got stronger and stronger. Its been nearly 3 weeks today and although I'm not 100% with my energy level, I am feeling close to normal.
Hang in there... don't sweat it about the protein. I too was getting really frustrated with my protein intake during the liquid phase. My dietician told me NOT to worry too much at that point. Now that I'm on pureed foods, its MUCH easier to get more and more protein in each day. Just try to take each day a little at a time... concentrate on what you're drinking at the moment and investigate your cabinets to see how you might be able to add a bit more next time or tomorrow. You'll get there, I promise you!

Why did you have to go back ? What was wrong? I actually had to back to the doctor Monday after suffering over the weekend. I though one of my incisions was infected. However I went in and the doctor opened the one up that was leaking and said I had a Hemotoma(not sure how to spell that) another words a pool of blood under my incision. And so he drained it. Then he made me go yesterday to have CT scans on my abdomen and pelvis. Called me not even an hour later and told me that I needed to start antibiotics immediately and gave me more pain meds. Said I had an abdominal infection. However now that I have taken some antibiotics I am beginning to feel much better. I go back tomorrow to see the surgeon so we will see how I am doing. Will keep everyone posted.

I am almost a month out and just this week started to feel a bit more normal and to wake up. I slept alot! I cannot even yet get all that protein in; it makes me sick if I pu**** so I am just doing the best I can. I do drink 64 ounces of fluid and take my vitamins but have not been able to get in all those grams of protein. I hurt alot for three solid weeks and could just this week go to the store with help from my husband. I think you are probably normal actually. I took pain medicine around the clock for three weeks and now suddenly I just don't need it anymore.
