RNY hanging skin?

I have been talking to someone considering getting surgery and I've already had mine, 3 weeks post op.  She brought up a valid point.  She said she watched a show on tv that had two case senerios.  One was someone had the RNY and had lost over 100 lbs and the other had worked out, dieted and lost 100 lbs.  The difference was the RNY had lots of hanging skin and the other had worked out and dieted had no hanging skin.  What do I say to that?  Is there anyway to avoid the hanging skin?

I work out like a maniac and have alot of hanging skin... I think it all depends on how long you have been big, how your skin is, elaticity wise and how much weight you lost and how fast. I am down 149 pounds in 10 months. My skin is hanging but looks ok in clothes.  just my birthday suit is too big I guess!! LOL!!

I think it definitely depends on your age and skin elasticity.  My cousin had the surgery years ago and has kept off 150 pounds.  She does not have any hanging skin, but was in her 20's when she had the surgery.  But ask your friend if she is going to be able to lose 100 pounds without the surgery AND keep it off.  I know I cannot without the help of surgery, therefore, I am having surgery.  I already have a tummy tuck planned for the future (summer 2010)!!  :  )
