HOME from sept 4th surgery - feeling icky
Hey everyone
I got home last night after 3days in the hospital. First 2 days there were rough. I had some issues with vomiting from the morphine and trying to move around. Wasn't able to walk well until Saturday (surg was Thursday). Sat at the hospital went really well. NO complaints. I got home and felt OK too, but bedtime was my issue.
I hardly slept at all. Can't get comfy, feel like I have the flu (no fever), and I keep getting up to go to the bathroom. I am glad to be using the bathroom as I know this is a good sign that I'm staying hydrated... but I would just liked to have been able to sleep better. The pain med I have sort of makes my heart race and I don't like how it makes me feel so I'm not sure if I'll be taking it anymore. Its 6:30 am on Sunday & I'm up on here because I'm too uncomfortable to lay down.
Sorry to be a complainer... I hate when people whine but guess I just needed to vent a little.

Julie,
Feel free to vent all you want!!! That's what we're here for. Have you told your doctor how the pain medication makes you feel? Maybe he/she could prescribe something else. Atleast your surgery is behind you. I still have 3 weeks and 1 day to go.....but who's counting .
Keep us posted on how you're doing!!! Good luck.

I was sick with nausea for over a week after I got home- it was terrible. My Dr. prescribed an anti nausea med (actually 2 different ones since it persisted) Also I promise that uncomfortable feeling goes away... I had the same thing... I couldn't stay in one place like I was running from the pain or something but it kept following me!! AHHH! It is frusterating. You will be thru that soon just hang in there!

My doctor gave me pain meds but told me that if I don't need them that I can always take liquid tylenol. Maybe you don't need all that medicine. Save me a seat on the losers bench on tuesday.

Hi Julie,
Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. I am three weeks out and feeling great, so hang in there, it does get better. Quick comment, my doc prescribed Lunesta (a sleeping pill) in my prescriptions to be filled as I was being released from the hospital. Maybe call your doc and ask for him to prescribe a sleeping pill for you to help get you through the hard nights. Best of luck to you.

UPDATE:
a few hours after I posted on Sunday, I had to be rushed back to Cleveland (1 hr drive). I was in severe pain and had become very dehydrated.
The re-admitted me and I spent another 3 days in there. Didn't return home til Wednesday. Apparently my new pouch and connecting intestines swelled beyond normal and were causing the intense pain and nausea. It was so bad that my old stomach wasn't draining either and began to fill with more and more fluid each day. It took til Tues night on regular doses of anti-inflammatories to get the swelling down to an acceptable place & my old stomach drained. By Wed. morning I was feeling OK enough to come home and things have gotten much better.
Thanks for all your posts and comments. :)
