Hi out there. My surgery is Monday and I am on clear liquids for 2 days. I get it that I can have broth, but is there a certain kind of broth that is right? I got some Swanson's Veg. broth that has no protein or not fat or anything, but is like 900 sodium..sheesh that seems like alot. I got some sugar free jello, cranberry juice, and Popsicles. Does this seem right? Is there anything else out there that is considered clear liquid...People say if you can see through it, it is clear..well, my HMR protein drinks are not clear, but I was told those would be ok?? Help??

Anything that you can see through is clear liquids. Chicken, Beef and Vegstable Broth, SF Jello, SF Popsicles, Isopure Protein Shakes, Crystal Light, and Diet Snapple. Oyah don't forget the Water. I have Surgery on Tuesday and I start my clear liquids on Monday. I am just really lucky that I don't have a full liquid or clear liquid diet for to long. If you read my blog you will see exactly what I am allowed to eat for my Three Day Pre-op. Good luck.

There is also something called Isopure.  Comes in several flavors. 40 grams of protein, 20 bottle, 160 calories.  Very clear, very good, very refreshing.  Robyn

Hi. I just read your blog again about your 'clear liquid diet"  I see you can have Isopure, New Whey, or Nectar..Are these powders? Can you have the flavored kinds such as chocolate or vanilla on the "clear liquid " phase?  What are toilet drops??

Hello,  Clear is clear.  Try  ISOPURE,  I have grape frost in front of me now.  It has 40 grams of protein.  20 OZ bottle. It  comes is other flavors too. It's  $3-4 a bottle. Vitamin World, GNC etc.  Swanson and the other broths come in sodium free. Mix between half salt free and fat free with salt.  it will give you some flavor.  For today Sunday I you need other "clear" protein drink types, write back.  My books and lists are in the car.   Good luck Monday.  My surgery is Tuesday,  Hurricane Ike, permitting.  Robyn

Thanks!  Ok, so is Isopure powder , say chocolate, when mixed with water considered a clear liquid? How about unjury powder? How about Champion Whey? I guess I'm asking if any powder protein is mixed with water, is it considered a clear liquid? I am to have clear liquids for 2 weeks after surgery. So most of my meals will be powder protein mixed with water??

I have isopure liquid.  But, I think isopure and injury mixed with water are OK pre -op.  Post Surgery the liquids I was given from the cleavland clinics list of acceptable choices are : Keto Milk-    1 scoop, ultimate locarb whey 1 sc, Zero Carb Isopure 3 sc  50 gr of protein, Myoplex Lite Powder 1 pkg  25 gr pro, Liquids protein  Atkins 1 can 20 gr pro, Ultra Pure Protein 12 oz 35 gr protein, Zoic 1 can 21 gr pro,  EAS Carbense 1 can 25 gr pro,
EAS Myoplex lite 1 can 25 gr pro, Slim Fast lo carb 20 gr pro, isopure 20 oz bottle 40 gr pro.  All of the above except for Slim Fast (2 carbs) have 1 or less total carbs.

Good luck.
