Celebrating the new you are you? I'm pretty sure they will tell you that it might not be a good idea to do. Unless of course you do it before the surgery. Skydive in am - cut open in the afternoon. Sounds like a plan

Teresa... I was going to have the lapband surgery and had been preparing for it for nearly two years...now I have changed to RNY and I'm not as fearful to have it as I had been. I am having my psych evaluation two weeks from today and I am sure all will go well. All my papers and tests have been very good and my surgeon is very enthused that I have decided on the RNY. I worry about the dumping problem and I can't remember just what happens when I will be going through that. I am very well disciplined on my food intake and 'am certain I will do well beyond surgery. I just hope there will be no complications as I live 129 miles from my surgeon and I think he would want me to go to his hospital should anything go wrong. Do you have any advice for me for pre and after surgery...I would appreciate any word you give me. Thank you and congratulations on being so sucessful on your RNY journey...Barbara

Seriously considering WLS, but I have to say, some of the post op experiences described here and the apparent frequency of them are scaring the heck out of me. I've been researching pretty extensively and have been aware of the various complications and the supposed odds of having to deal with them. But there's a big diffence between reading about this stuff and getting first hand accounts and it doesn't seem as if the claims of "rare" complications (1 in a hundred is 'rare'???), is really as rare as they claim. From this board, it seems like almost everyone has gone or is going through some pretty painful complications in one form or another.

Topic: RE: post ops from week of 9-10 to 9-14 check in!
Hi, my surgery was 8/31. Had my post op on 9/12. Lost 20 pounds, what a good feeling. I have to go back tomorrow because when they removed my drain it was red and a little hard, so they wanted to see me again. Mistakes I have made were sitting to long reading the paper on my coffee table. I was strattling table for a couple of hours. My right side hurt for days at least three really bad. Next thing was I woke up in the middle of the night to let my dogs out and wasn't thinking and grabbed piece of garlic bread and then got some milk, way too much food. I couldn't breath very well. Wanted to get sick but couldn't. Nothing would come up or go down. After that, I have had pain in my left side for about 5 days. Sometimes really miserable. Other than that I feel okay. Expected to feel better by now. My husband said I seem like I'm doing good for just having major surgery. Never had surgery before so I really don't know what to expect. But every day gets a little better. Walking seems to work best for me. Good luck!

I have decided I can't weigh myself even once a day. Each morning I bounce out of bed to see what the scale says and if I don't like it I flop back into bed and feel sorry for myself. Maybe we should both do it every other day???

just reading your post-I am having surgery on 9/24-preop on the 20th-so I guess I'll be doing a preop diet too? I didn't know that, but of course, that makes sense! I am crazy about getting on the scale before and after a meal-checking my weight! but I have prayed a lot for strength (from temptation of food!) and am looking forward to next Monday-post surgery. Nervous, excited and apprehensive. So I will look for your posts after surgery! Blessings!
