Topic: Hi Everyone...
I've been OH for a few years and did not know that actually had a monthly board until my friend Erin contacted me and told me about it. I had my gastric bypass on 9-19-07 and would like to know how everyone else is doing and if what I am feeling is common to other people who had the surgery around the same time as mine. I am experiencing a lot of nausea which makes not want to drink or eat; still very sore on my left side. I had my first experience of getting something "stuck", it is an awful experience and it stays with you for about 30 minutes. I hated it and will have to remain on liquids for the rest of the day. Let me know your experiences with this surgery and how you have handled it. Take Care Annie

Topic: RE: one week post-op
Hello - I am one week post op too! I had surgery last Tuesday. I feel fine. I actually went shopping the same day. Not sure what surgery you had, but I had the lap-band. I arrived at the hospital at 5:30am, and by noon, I was on my way to the craft store to purchase fabric for my next project. We stayed out for about two hours. I went home and took a really long (3 hours) nap, but I've been up and out ever day since. Are you taking a vitamin? Are you eating meals? I'd call the doc - just to ensure that all is ok. Valarie

Anyone else feeling just a little weak and wobbly still? And tired. Some days I'm wide awake and stay up late. Other days all I want to do is sleep. Is this normal? Any suggestions? I want to get out of my fog.

Topic: RE: How much pain are you in?
I'm one week post-op today. I'm up and around and sleeping OK. I'm taking tylenol for discomfort but not really pain. I get crampy when I eat or drink and I'm very protective of my tummy area (I have a 4 year old *****ally misses climbing on mommy!). I would say I get a lot of air rumbling around just below my sternum that sometimes gives me a twinge (especially when I just wake up in the morning and don't have anything in my system for pain relief) so maybe it's similar but causing you greater pain.

Well. Of course it's not normal. But it all depends on how dramatic the change was for you. If before you got banded you ate non stop and then all of a sudden your body is taking in 200% less food. Of course! Thats what you wanted to happen! GREAT JOB! It will most likely slow down because your metabolism will adjust. So be happy! www.trueresults.com www.aigb.com http://athletes.kintera.org/crossfit07/nkent

Hello, I was banded on 9-17-07. Within 9 days I have lost 10 pounds. I am eating pureed foods- 1/2 cup every 3 hours for 6 meals per day just as I was instructed. I am very excited to be losing the weight but concerned that it might be too much too fast. Is anyone else losing weight at this rate? ~ Lisa

I had my surgery the 5th and the 1st week was terrible but after I got the drains out it got better every day. It sounds like you have pain or pressure from being too full or having alot of gas?? I had to re-learn the feeling of being full, it felt more like a big painful knot in my chest just below my sternum, when I asked my friend who has been through it and figured out what it was I don't have the problem anymore. I hope this was helpful...Good luck and take care...p.s. also remember not to lay down when you've just eaten and sit up when you drink anything or else it can be very uncomfortable and sometimes cause vomiting.
