Topic: RE: checking with with September surgeries
Hello,
I had my LAP RNY surgery on September 7th. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks out for me. The only problem I have had with anything to date is the pain from the surgery for me was pretty bad and didn't really go away until the third week (last week). Everything I have tried to eat has gone down and stayed down and came out on the back side normal. LOL. I had some problems drinking liquid the first 4 days, but then I was able to drink two protein shakes a day and get in all 64 oz of my water, and I can take a gulp of water with no problems. I can't chug it obviously, but anyhow, no problems drinking and eating. Some things I eat, no matter how much I chew it I can only eat small amounts, other things I can seem to eat more of and this worrys me. I have lost 20lbs since surgery and 52lbs overall if you count my presurgery diet.
Topic: OMG I am in so much pain
I had my surgery on Sept 21 and I am fine from that BUT OMG since I cant take my Voltaren (anti-inflamitory) for my knees I can barely walk. My liver was so elevated because I was on the Voltaren (anti-inflamitory) that being off it is helping that but making me a cripple.
Today I bought Liquid Mortrin and took it but no help at all. Does any one have any suggestions other than cortisone shots in my knees until I get this weight off!!
Thank you for your support

Topic: RE: Drinking Fast
I don't have any problem drinking the same way I always did. I haven't had a fill yet so I don't see any reason that fluid would be restricted. The liquid just goes right down into the lower stomach. In other words if the drain isn't clogged you can keep the faucet running without stopping up the sink.

Hi Angel,
Pain wise I was fine, however my fifth day post op was the first day I was home alone and it was enough to get my self taken care of (like the above poster said, water, pureed, etc). I can't imagine having to get on a plane, or even worse having to ride a long distance in the car, and then having to be nice to people.
Let hubby go alone this time and plan a great time on the next trip!

Topic: RE: How do you feel 5 days Post-Op?
Hi Angel,
Mine was a sleeve gastrectomy, which I think is a little "easier" than the RNY. I would not have gone with anyone to any meeting now, though. It takes all my time and energy just to get the liquids, purees and water down me to be able to focus on anything else. It's also nice not to have to dress up, wear make up and make small talk. Take this time to take care of yourself, you'll have plenty of time to socialize in a couple of weeks' time!

Topic: How do you feel 5 days Post-Op?
I would like to know how people feel 5 days post-op with RNY? My husband has an important meeting out of town and wants me to go. I will only be 5 days post op and need advice from you all that have just had the surgery and it is still fresh in your mind.
Thanks for your advice in advance.
Blessings,
Angel
Topic: RE: Exactly 2 weeks out today - ick for the bean soup
Kristin,
Sorry about the on the bean soup. What a bummer. I am so looking forward to gettting to progress to soft diet. A 16 pound weight loss that is AWESOME!!!!
I am a week out and up a pound. Like you, I didn't weigh when I got home from the hospital, as I knew I was up. I will wait for my 2 week check-up to weigh again.
Here's hoping you found something to satisfyyour new pouch.

Topic: RE: 8 days post op and feeling good but....
I think I saw on your profile that you had the lap band. First I would strongly suggest you call your surgeon and talk to him. I don't know if crackers would necessarily be good for you or your band at this point. I don't know how the band works, but it seems if you are truly hungry after 2 hours, you may need your surgeon to adjust the fill. Since you brought up that you are a mental health counselor, I would suggest you look inside to see what may be triggering your need to not only change the plan your surgeon set up without consulting him, but also look at the possibility that you may be sabotaging your initial results.
The difference between your skinny friends and us is that they have not used food to excess, they understand the need for nourishment in controlled amounts. Is it possible that you may be dealing with head hunger as well, I know I have been dealing with that recently, definately emotional baggage on its own.
Please don't take this as a flame, I want you to get to your desired result in a healthy way, you can do this. Please call your surgeon.
Good luck,
Holly
