Topic: RE: New Month.. How much are you down?
I had lap RNY on 9/4. Here are my stats so far:
Highest weight: 321
Start of pre-op diet: 317
Surgery day: 298
Current: 278
So, depending on when you are calculating from, I've lost 20 or 39 or 43 pounds.

Hey Everyone,
I had my lap RNY on 09/18.... I lost 15 lbs the first week, and since then about 3. So, I am kind of disapointed.
I am getting my protein and liquids in, taking all my supplements and exercising everyday. I'm walking at least a mile a day, sometimes two and I am doing water aerobics a couple times a week.
I'm getting discouraged. I know that 19 lbs in 3 weeks is good, but 3 pounds in two weeks -not so inspiring.
I know it's early but I'm already worried that I'm not doing well. I've never been a binge eater, prior to surgery ate 1500-2000 calories a day and exercised. I am worried that I am doomed genetically to be fat forever. Eating 600 calories a day really should produce more of a weight loss....

RNY on 9/7/07, down 22 lbs since surgery and 54 lbs total since I started my pre-op diet.
Topic: RE: HELP! NEED ADVICE!!
Nausea and vomiting are the most common complaints after bariatric surgery, and they are typically associated with inappropriate diet and noncompliance with a gastroplasty diet (ie, eat undisturbed, chew meticulously, never drink with meals, and wait 2 hours before drinking after solid food is consumed). If these symptoms are associated with epigastric pain, significant dehydration, or not explained by dietary indiscretions, an alternative diagnosis must be explored. One of the most common complications causing nausea and vomiting in gastric bypass patients is anastomotic ulcers, with and without stomal stenosis. Ulceration or stenosis at the gastrojejunostomy of the gastric bypass has a reported incidence of 3% to 20%

Hi everyone! I had my Lap-RNY on 9/13 and am doing mostly well. I am having difficulty sleeping and getting in enough fluids, but all else with the surgery and food prep seems to be going well!
However, I've had a lot of worry since my surgery as my sister is dying from breast cancer. She took a serious turn for the worse in the past week and the entire family is basically on death-watch. I've been running up and down the highway a lot and worrying, so I'm sure this is a major cause of my sleep deprivation. It takes all the mental energy I have to plan packing my cooler for the trips to my sister's place. I'm still on soft-puree's until my first surgeon visit, which is on 10/10. I was actually licking natural peanut butter off a spoon last night just to have something to eat -- it took me nearly 20 minutes eating it like a lollipop It will be much easier to plan when I advance to soft/moist next week and can quit lugging around my hand blender -- although it has been a wonderful investment!
I'm happy with my weight elimination so far @ 33 pounds, but expect it will slow down once more solid food is introduced. That's ok though as I know this surgery is the best thing I have ever done for my health! My war with weight is finally under control -- yahoo!
Glad to hear that everyone seems to be coping and doing well since your respective surgeries. I like that we have this forum to keep tabs on one another
We are indeed splendid! Hugs ~ kim

Topic: RE: Heart Rate after surgery
Hope you are doing well. I ended up in the hospital for blood clots in my lungs. :-0
SO....if you haven't gone to the doctor, and you are still having trouble breathing, and your resting (or active) heart rate is much higher than normal....go immediately to the emergency room. A quick test from them...and they can make sure you are fine.
I am now back to normal...although I will have to have coumiden for 6 months (blood thinner).
I am loving the lap band....less than 2 weeks to my first fill.
This certainly makes me feel more like one of those little chicks that order a kids meal...and 'just can't eat anymore' when they are only half way through!!!!!
Take good care of yourself!!!
