Topic: RE: September one month check in and a question!
Hi Kim! I think my biggest surprise this past month has been how tired I am, I am used to getting up at 4:45 for work and not stopping until about 9:30 or so at night. Now I am sleeping in, resting, and still sleeping all night! I guess my second biggest surprise is how much my taste for food has changed, before surgery I detested fresh fish (now breaded and fried, that's a different story), but now I love it. As of this morning I am down 28.5 pounds! I am only two pounds away from onederland! Have a great weekend. Holly

Holly: What was your biggest surprise and how many pounds are you down? You're wonderful at starting conversations, but don't be shy girl -- how is it going for you? The biggest surprise is my appetite, or lack thereof! Someone else posted somewhere that they are beginning to believe that maybe they are not really an emotional eater after all and I kind of feel that way. I have been through a lot of stress and emotion the past month with the surgery and loss of my sister (the biggie's amongst other things happening) and I have not once strayed or was tempted to stray from my plan. Given these cir****tances just a few months ago, I would have been eating who-knows-what! Now my question is, was my over-eating really emotionally based or physiological in nature because of fluctating blood sugar levels from stress and other things like that -- totally bizarre! I'm down 35 pounds from my highest weight in July, which was when I got back from vacation and gave myself a serious butt-whoopin. A week or so later I made some calls practically begging the insurance company to hurry up with my file! The rest is history and today I'm one month post-op -- and so are you! Congrats to us Take care and keep up the wonderful progress! ~ Kim

Holly: Thank you for the kind words. My sister passed away early Sunday morning and her funeral was on Tuesday. It's been a very emotional time, but we are happy that her suffering is over. I have lost track of what I am supposed to be doing for myself, but will soon get back on track with planning and recordkeeping. I go back to work for half days starting on Monday, so I need to get some type of routine worked up! Saw my surgery team on Wednesday and despite all else that is happening, they are happy with my progress. They assured me that although I am not at optimum intake for protein, calories, and fluids, the range I am in is not considered unhealthy (yet!). I have a medical background, so I do know the things to watch for that can stem from missing out on the things that are important to my diet right now. I went ahead and started on B12 dots and calcium citrate chews, which is a decision they supported. Normally their plan is to start on the supplements at 6 weeks out, where I am only 4. How are things going for you? I believe we had our surgery the same day (9/13). Take care and thanks again for touching base with me. It meant a lot! Hugs :: Kim

Topic: RE: Restriction where are you????????
I am two weeks out, too. Any initial restriction is from the swollen stomach... after that heals, you need a fill (usually done at 6-8 weeks out). So feeling hungry is probably a sign of good healing. Congrats on the weight you've lost so far, that's great! Melanie

Hello! I am now 5 weeks out.. The thing I found the most suprising is how much energy I already have. I also did not realize how difficult it would be to pick foods to eat... I realy have to think about that. I am now down 34.5 lbs and I feel awesom!

Topic: RE: Fluid leaking from incision?
I have an incision that is still open and draining too. As long as the fluid is clear and not a ton it is probably ok. If it turns colors or is a lot then I would call ASAP!

Did you have Open or Lap. regardless. Call and talk to the nurse at the clinic.
