Topic: RE: checking with with September surgeries
Hi Holly AND all of my fellow Septemeber surgery people
I had an open RNY on September 18th. Aside from the expected pain the first few days, I'm thrilled with how I feel and how things are progressing. At my first post surgical visit (10 days after) I had lost 10 lbs. I have my one month follow-up tomorrow and since my scales at home aren't anything close to reliable, I have no idea what my weight is right now. I've got my fingers crossed and I will repost tomorrow afternoon with an update of my total loss for the first month.
By the way, I chose the open rather than the lap because I was self-pay. The open was $3,500.00 cheaper and since the incision really isn't all that big (around 4 inches..maybe a tad longer), I am just as happy with my choice. And my bank account appreciated my choice as well.
I wish you all good luck, good health, and a safe, satisfying and comfortable rate of weight loss!

I also have some fluid leaking from only one site as well as white thread.
Topic: RE: I am feeling that I will sabbatoge my tool.
I don't know about the fat intake but I was told to stay away from those meals because of all the carbs and they don't have a lot of protin in them. my big thing right know is soup because it is easy to get down and I can get full withjust the broth if I don't want the noodles are patato our what ever else is in there that I am not ready too have yet. I do how ever think that is good Idea to eat the protin first. what I was told and rember that everyone is diffrent I was told that that I should have 3tb spoons of protin and then 1tb spoon of fruit or vegtable at each meal. I have not had carbs add to my diet yet but that does not mean that I haven not had them I just have very small amount just enough to have a taste.
I hope that this help's just make suere that you are getting your protin in and you ahould be ok.

Topic: RE: Is your spouse jealous?
My husband is very supportive, but he had WLS over 2 years ago. I remember all the feelings that I had when he had his surgery. I was past jealous. I had all these horrible feelings that I had to work through. The only thing that I asked of my husband was compassion and understanding. He didn't really understand. My suggestion is just be as supportive as you can of him. Try to understand how he is feeling. I know exactly what he is going through. Show him a lot of love.

Actually when I first tried to diet my husband was really supportive and he joined WW with me. He had a lot more sucess on it than I did, so he actually sabbotaged himself for my sake! Now that I have had the surgery he has jumped back on the WW bandwagon and he is soo happy he has lost 6lbs in his first week, and was very sucessful on the program when we were first on it, so he has really handled it well by rejoining and getting himself healthy.

Do any of you have problems with your spouse feeling threatened with the weight that you are losing? How have you handled it? Any suggestions.
