Topic: RE: checking with with September surgeries
Good morning everyone! I had surgery Sept 11th and ended up in the hospital for 11 very long days! Part of my lung collapsed during surgery so I ended up coming home with oxygen. My family doc took me off of the oxygen about 1 1/2 weeks after I was home from the hospital. Thank goodness, I felt so "tied" down carrying that around with me! I went for my 1 month post op visit with the surgeon and also had chest x-rays done. Monday I have to go to a lung specialist - there is fluid in my lungs. That has me pretty upset considering there were no problems with my lungs before surgery. Other than that, things are going well. I do find myself struggling to get all of my protein and water in. I had one bout of foamies & vomiting and since then, the thought of foods/drinks make me naseous. The food I ate earlier on (cottage cheese, scrambled eggs) blah - I don't think I could stomach right now so I'm looking for new high protein food! I'm walking everyday with my dog. I think I'll try today without him - I think I could go further. I'm only doing 3-5 blocks. It sounds like we're all doing quite well considering the change to our bodies!

Annie, I was thinking that same thing last night. I have been feeling so nauseas (sp) lately even when I just think about what I'm going to eat. I would love to not have to think or plan what I'm going to eat and just "dive" in. But you're right, that's how we ended up where we are! I don't regret having surgery every time I get on that scale or when I take a walk and am not out of breath. Just struggling on some days. Hang in there!! I feel that my big "treat" is going to Wendy's and getting the small chili or a baked potatoe with cheese.

Topic: RE: Weekly weight Loss
Hi! Surgery 9-17 9/12 pre op weight 236.9 10/15 4 week weight 215.1 weight loss = 21.8 pounds I was hoping the scale would go down a little faster. The weights I have listed were my surgeons scale my home scale is about 4 pounds different so I kind of measure the drops in pounds on the weeks I am not using the dr's scale. Kind of gets confusing dr scale versus home scale Gloria

Topic: Just Curious....
Has anyone here have that thought in their mind "What did I do to myself" or "What did I do"? I didn't realize how much I like so many foods until I had this surgery. I now look at my husband when we eat and ask him "Are you going to eat all that food", then I sit back and think about 6 weeks ago, I could have probably would have eaten almost as much as he did. I say to myself that is why I am the way I am now. Without this surgery I do not know where I would have been in another year or so. I am thankful I did not have any health issues but I have a loving family that needed to be here with them. Take Care Annie

Hello All, New to this board. Well I had my Lap RNY on 9-19-07 my surgery was on a Wednesday and I left on Friday. The first night of surgery I was up and walking around the hospital. In the hospital everything was fine but once I got home, another story (but not too bad). The first week after surgery was probably my worst, I felt nauseased all the time, it was hard to get my water in and I didn't feel like eating anything and I was so weak I felt so light headed all the time. Well, to find out what happened to me was that I was so dehydrated. Once I started making an effort of getting a majority of water into me, it was much better. I went back to work after 3 weeks and was a whole new person. Oh, one thing I have experienced is the frothing...yuck just gross, when you swallow a bite that was alittle too big and it stuck right there; it just feels awful to where I would have to force myself to purge. I've been doing much much better and can't wait to see what next month brings. Take Care Annie in Arizona

Hello All, New to this board but have been on & off OH for last couple of years. I had my RNY on 9-19-07 (about 4 weeks) from my preop visit until now I have lost 32 lbs, really exciting. I am still struggling with my water intake and also finding foods that are easy to handle going down. It's getting better. Take Care Annie in Arizona
