Topic: RE: DUMPING ON CALTRATE??
Hi,
Maybe you should wait and take it after your morning meal? Don't take it on an empty stomach and see if that helps. I have been on a lot of meds before surgery and I know that you can not take a lot of things on an empty stomach. It could be you are a little sensitive to the calcium. Are you taking 1200 mg split 2 or 3 times a day? Or, are you taking 1200 mg three times a day? Could be you are taking too much. See how you feel by adjusting it a little. Hope you feel better!
Best regards,
Brenda NJ
Topic: RE: Weekly Weight Loss
Surgery date 9/27/07
Starting weight- 268.5
Last week's weight- 243.5
This week's weight- 239.5
This week's loss- 4 lbs
I was at a stall for nearly 12 days, so I'm thrilled with that 4 lbs. I also hate the protein shakes. I don't have a problem with milk, but the shakes make me nauseous. I'm working on it.
Topic: RE: Weekly Weight Loss
Hi,
My surgery date was 9/11/07 lost almost 30 lbs. I would like to ask everyone why is everybody in such a hurry? It took all of our lives to get this way and it will certainly take a considerable amount of time to get back to somewhat normal. I am also having a problem getting the shakes in. I am thinking about putting more than 1 scoop in my shake. This way I will get double the protein in one shake and don't have to drink as many. Some of them taste good, but, after awhile you get tired of the taste all of the time. I tried the banana and creme GNC 100% whey. I also tried the chocolate caramel. I tried the designer whey and it was discusting. Take your time. Buy the smaller bags and get a couple of different flavors. This way you won't get as tired of the same flavor all of the time. Please be patient with yourself and you will come along just fine.
Yours truly,
Brenda NJ

Hi,
My surgery date was 9/11/07. I am not moving along too fast either. Don't ru**** You have been eating fast all of your life. There is no hurry anymore. Try doing something while you are eating, like house cleaning or something to keep you from thinking about finishing your food already. I take a bite and busy myself with something, then I will go back and take another bite and keep doing that until I have ate enough. I have the same problem as well. How long can you possibly eat smooth creamy yogurt? You can't chew it, there is nothing to chew. I guess you just keep swishing it around your mouth for awhile and then swallow it. Ha Ha. I have a real problem with this as well. Keep your chin up and slow down a wee bit.

Topic: RE: I can't seem to eat anything
Hi,
I couldn't eat either, but, I didn't throw up. I had the opposite problem. I had constant diarrhea. It turns out that I bacame lactose intolerant and all I was eating was dairy products. I tried lactose chewable tablets and feel better. If you are throwing up maybe you are eating too much, too fast, or the wrong thing. Take it easy. Most likely if you are like me I rushed through my meals all of my life, but now its time to take it slowly. There is no more hurry to eat. My friend whom I shared a hospital room with kept throwing up and it turns out she had a cold or allergy, and all of the mucus was making her throw up. There are several reasons why you could be throwing up. It is not an easy surgery to go through. Don't be discouraged things will happen at their own course. Everyone moves along at different paces. I was getting frustrated at first because I just wanted to get to more normal eating. I am no longer in a hurry. If I am not ready yet than I am not ready yet. Keep your chin up and try logging in everything you are eating at what time you are eating them and how long after eating you are throwing up. Maybe you will get a better knowledge of what is making you feel that way. My surgery date was 9/11/07 and I lost almost 30 lbs. since then. I am moving along very slowly with the food also. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Yours truly,
Brenda from NJ

Thanks at least I am not alone, I am going to go back on liquids for a bit and see how that goes, maybe I will try more solid foods in a week or two.
Topic: RE: I can't seem to eat anything
I'm 6 weeks out from RNY. Am having the same problem. Went to my regular Dr. today for a checkup - she reminded me that each bite has tobe chewed 30 times. Sometimes I forget when I first start eating, and eat 2-3 bites quickly, and then get the slimes. Not fun. I seem to be able to tolerate cheerios, soup, and protein drinks, but can't tolerate ground chicken, flaked tuna, etc. I am supposed to go on regular foods next week, but don't think I'm ready yet. My hints for you are: don't drink for 1/2 hour before or after you eat, and chew, chew, chew.
