Topic: RE: Heyyyyy My September Babies! Happy 6 month Anniversary!
my eating habits are very good, still trying to stick with 3 meals and 1 snack, some days I have 2 snacks, but I don't graze. I am very luck and can eat pretty much everything now, I love me some steak! lol. I have tested the waters with sugar, and have found I don't dump....which sucks, kinda wish I could, it might keep me inline better. I also went on a weekend carb fest (didn't over eat, just had way to many potatos), and gained 3 lbs that was 3 weeks ago and I am finally back down 2, so I will be STAYING AWAY FROM CARBS!!! I know better than to give in to that devil! my stats highest 313 sugery 266 current 186! personal goal 168 only 18lbs to go! and this board is dead, we need to give it some life!

Topic: RE: Exercising
My walking slowed down when it got cold in December and it has been hard to kick start again. This wonderful spring weather is helping though. I started going for little walks after dinner with my two daughters, but that won't amount to much serious exercise as one is only 4 years old. So I have been shooting baskets at the park now and again over the winter. I need to get serious about my cardio again though. Hopefully these little evening walks with my daughters will inspire me to get back on my 4 and 5 mile jaunts that I was doing last Nov and Dec. Joining the local gym and finding time to get there everyday just isn't feasible right now.

Topic: RE: getting in protein?
I am still heavily relying on protein shakes to get my protein in. And I feel like I will be doing that for a long time. I did have some tri tip steak last weekend and it was the first steak I had had since surgery, but I was only able to handle about 3 maybe 4 ounces and it went down okay. I just had to chew the heck out of it, but thank god, it was so much better than chicken and fish, which I am completely sick of.

Highest weight: 394lbs on July 18th, 2007 Surgery weight: 362lbs on Sept 7th, 2007 Current weight: 275lbs on March 11th, 2008 Personal goal: 200lbs The weight loss is slowing down, but I look forward to a spring and summer of activities, hikes, swimming, work, etc. Hoping to get to my personal goal before the end of this year. If I reach it I may set a new goal for myself at that time. Not sure what my surgeons goal weight for me is, as he hasn't shared it with me yet. I go see him on the 13th for my sixth month follow up. I'm happy for all of us September '07 WLS patients. I can't believe that it has been six months, but then again, my recovery period seems like a lifetime ago.

I can eat just about anything I want, although some foods are tolerated better than others. I'm eating an average of 1100 calories/day, with 30% or less attributed to fat and 60-90 g. of protein. I don't do well with beef, venison or egg beaters. I LOVE Hood Light Cottage Cheese with Cherries and Pineapple, and I still do a protein drink every morning (8 oz skim milk with a SF CIB and a scoop of EAS powder). Sometimes I'll have a CIB at night too. I will have a starch with my lunch and/or dinner, but rarely will I have one by itself or with breakfast. Highest: 260 Day of Surgery: 236 Today: 179 Goal: 130 Was about a size 22 when I started this journey, now a 14 to 16.

Topic: RE: Exercising
I belong to a gym. I try to go every day that I can. I take my gym clothes to work with me and change there. If I go home first, then fugetaboutit, I don't end up making it there that day. I usually average between 4-6 times a week. I do weight training at least twice a week. They just put in a circuit training section at the beginning of the year, so I might do that once a week too. The circuit training course takes 30 minutes, so I save that for an evening when I'm short on time. Every time that I go, I also do 30 minutes of cardio, regardless of whether I also did weights. I vary my cardio between the bike, recumbent bike and/or elliptical. I have to say that this only works for me because I have no children at home, and my husband cooks dinner, so I don't have to rush home and do that. I'm very lucky!

Topic: RE: Our board is dead... I can't even lurk....
I agree about this board being dead. I check it out regularly, but there's never anything new. I will try to post more often too. So I just got back from a week in Mexico. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort. I thought I did pretty well with the food and alcohol, but I gained 2 1/2 pounds. I'm hoping that it is mostly water retention as I couldn't get much water in. (It was purified, but it tasted different.) I did drink, and I ate, but I didn't drink a lot, and I ate fish mostly. I also walked the beach a couple of times, went to the gym and did pool aerobics twice. My husband and I danced into the night at the disco on 4 different evenings. These are all activities that I have never done in the past, plus what I ate all week, I think I would have eaten in a couple of days in the past. Same with the alcohol. So 2 1/2 pounds isn't necessarily a big gain for a week on vacation, but I still find it discouraging. I so want to reach my goal before the "honeymoon period" wears off. I feel like I lost 2 weeks (last week and this week -hopefully just one- that I will need to spend taking off the extra pounds) on my weight loss journey.
