Topic: RE: Heyyyyy My September Babies! Happy 6 month Anniversary!
Wow, everyone is doing great!!!
I had my 6 month yesterday, and I am down 110 llbs. I am able to eat almost anything, however i stay away from most carbs and sugars as they are from HELL!!! LOL I average between 800-1200 calories a day(depending on my workout schedule) with about 100-110grams of protein I have had some issues with anemia and a vitamin D deficiency but am dealing with those. I go to the gym 3-5 times a week for cardio and weight training and I take a yoga class once a week and am trying to work up the courage to add a spin class to the mix. And I have just started jogging.

I'm not ready for my surgiversary... I wanted to be at -100 lbs, and I'm not there yet... Ugh.
My heaviest ever was about 390, when I started seriously looking into surgery this time I was 363. Surgery Date 343. Today 261. So I've lost 82 lbs and went from a 26/28 to an 18/20.
It's a good start, but of course, I want more.
I "cheat" by eating easy foods, chili, yogurt, etc.. when i try to eat something substantial like a few ounces of baked chicken, i get exhausted - it takes so long and its hard to chew everything so well.
The gym - I'm an on again/ off again slacker. Some weeks I go every day, some weeks just once or twice... I'm an active person anyways - navigating NYC, stairs, walking, subways, etc...
I've eaten a bite or two of rice because everything my husband cooks is served with it... It doesnt feel right going down (yet, i've tried many times) and honestly, just isn't good. You're not missing anything - trust me!
My problem is still crackers - I can't eat bread and this is the closest I get and I tend to go overboard... Now, that means eating a sleeve of Ritz in a day... which really isn't all that bad considering they are my only carbs, but a really bad habit to get into!
Inches - my savior! I track them to help me when i'm not losing weight and getting depressed... but i have a hard time figuring out how to total or track them.. i know i've lost about 15 inches in my hips - crazy!
I'm glad we are livening up this place a bit!

Hey guys- thanks for everyone sharing! I really like to hear how others are doing, especially you folks since we are all about the same "age."
Topic: RE: Heyyyyy My September Babies! Happy 6 month Anniversary!
My surgery date was Sept. 4 I have been able to eat pretty much anything so far. I have a little trouble with red meat and can handle sugar. That is the scary part. I am starting to fall back into my munchies at night. Any suggestions for something for when those munchie**** when watching tv? I do my eliptical but still have time for those cravings. I have tried to do other things, but I need something to put into my mouth.
Has anyone tried rice? I have heard that it is painful and have been scared to try it. I don't want to make it a staple because of the carbs, but a taste would be good.
Maybe to get this board moving, how about a question or thought for the day?? Just an idea to throw out there. Thanks for any advice....
Stats:
Wt on surgery date: 288
6 month weight: 211
Inches lost at 6 months: 49.50!!
Very tight 26 pants pre-op
Size 14/16 now

By the looks of those stats, you ARE smoking hot!
Topic: RE: getting in protein?
I definitely agree that it is important to get your protein in however possible. I would try not to make a habit of doing it with protein shakes, but if you need them to make up your 60 grams, go for it. I often find that I am not hungry , but force myself to eat my three meals a day. I have soup alot, with melted low fat cheese in it. It usually accounts for 30 grams of protein, if you can eat the whole can (I can usually get in about 2/3 of it).
Good luck, and try to keep your protein intake up as best as possible. Keep us informed.
Hugs,
Lisa

Hi everyone! I am doing well as it seems most of you are too. I can eat almost everything except I do sometimes have problems with solid meats getting "stuck". I actually had another stricture taken care of last month, and things seem to be going down better now.
I have not tried sugar at all! I do not want to know if I do or do not dump. I am just assuming that I do dump and there fore stay away from everything with sugar in it. My fear is that if I find out that I do not dump, I will start eating all of the wrong things and stop losing or gain weight.
Here are my stats:
Highest weight/Day of surgery: 285
Current weight: 194
Total lost: 91
Highest Clothing size: 24/26W
Current size: 16 or 18 regular (no more women's sizes for me!)
Hugs,
Lisa

Okay here are my stats:
Highest Weight -285
Weight day of surgery - 270
Current Weight - 178
Biggest size - 26/28
current size - 14
First let me list my bad habits...I found I can tolerate chocolate!!! I'm getting into a danger area because of Easter coming up and I've been keeping chocolate in the house. And I've been able to tolerate a martini...the alcohol isn't a problem, because I'm not nor ever was a big drinker...but I am a chocoholic...I have to throw away the chocolate
Still cant tolerate bread very well. I do okay with wheat bread, but it still makes me a bit queasy so I generally stay away from it. Raw veggies I cant eat still i.e. carrots, and cucumbers...but I can eat lettuce...weird huh?
Other than that, I'm doing pretty well. Last weekend my DH and I went out for our anniversary to a steakhouse, and I ate fabulous. I had a filet mignon (about 1/4 of it) and it just melted in my mouth. The next day I overheard my husband telling his friends that I looked "smoking hot". Needless to say I've been walking on air since hearing that!
Hope everyone is doing well!
