Do we have the same husband? I'm 51. If I had my way (and all the $$$ in the world), I'd get a breast lift, brachioplasty and lower body lift. My husband says the same thing to me -- that, at my age, why do I care about those things? He is also supportive and tells me that he loved me heavy and loves me the same way now that I've lost so much weight. My size never mattered to him. I'm lucky to have him, I know that. However, my response to the age thing is that I'm not dead yet. And, this is the first time in my entire life that I've gotten so close to being comfortable in my own skin. Heck, my memories of being in 1st grade are that my dress was a bigger size than any of my friends' were. It's one thing to be bigger at that age, but at 6 years old, to know that you're different because of your size is pretty sad. So I say go for it! I don't know what the cost is. A friend of mine had augmentation and paid about $8,000 in Boston (she did not spend a night in the hospital, either - came home the same day). I don't know how that would compare to a breast lift. That sounds like a lot of money, but you could justify it by saying that it costs less than buying a car, and it will last forever. One thing I would recommend is not having anything done until you've lost all of the weight that you want. Maybe wait until your weight has been stable for about 3 or 4 months. That's what I've heard you should do anyway. Good luck!

Ok- so I'm 45 and I've lost 60 pounds. My breasts were sagging before but now they're deflated bad. My question is: Do you think I'm too old to get a breast lift? My husband made the remark that since I'm 45 why bother. He's supportive about it and says if I feel the need to do it he'll be by my side. What do you think. I HATE my breasts. I'd rather not have them at all. Also- has anyone out there had this done or know anyone that has had it done? I'm not talking enlargement- just lift. I'm wondering how much it will cost and how much pain is involved. Thanks.

Topic: RE: Heyyyyy My September Babies! Happy 6 month Anniversary!
Well...my name is Jen and I had RNY on September 18th. My ighest weight was 330 and then I went on a calorie restriction before surgery and got down to 302 - which was the day of surgery. I weigh myself every Tuesday. So this past Tuesday I was 203. 99 pounds lost. I got next week to the dr for my official weigh in and blood work. I am also meeting with the nutrionist and exercise doc as well as getting my 2nd body scan. So I'm excited for all of that. I exercise at the gym 5-6 times a week. I also have a son who will be 2 in June so he keeps me busy all the time, lol. I started out in a size 28 (with elastic waist) and now I am in a size 14 jeans...and they are getting a little big now. A few times I have even found a size medium cotton shorts that fit and size large top too. It's a strange feeling to now shop in the plus size all the time. I went to Kohls and bought a dress for a wedding I'll be attending and it was a large in the misses section. A HUGE wow moment for me. I can eat honestly whatever I want. Sometimes I have slipped and ate bad but nothing with much sugar. I really don't even try it. I had dumping a few times from turkey so I don't eat that at all anymore. I can only imagine how bad it owuld be with sugar then! I can eat out with friends, which is nice. I'm back to writing down what I eat and counting calories to help break this plateau I'm in. I am also back to drinking an Isopure a day since I've noticed a little bit more hair in my brush than used to be there, lol. All in all I am SO HAPPY I had this surgery. It's already changed my life. I'll be anxious too look into a tummy tuck though. It'll be much needed!

Topic: RE: getting in protein?
I agree with everyone else. Liquid form of protein is better than none at all. Try making chicken on the weekends and then using it during the week. 4 oz is 24 grams of protein so even if you take a few bites here and there throughout the day it helps. Or make chicken salad. I am starting to rely more on food for protein and not the liquid form. But I still do drink the occasional Isopure to make sure I get it in. I did go through a spurt where I wasn't counting protein or calories and found I was at a plateau for awhile. My hair was even starting to fall out more. Nothing alarming but I noticed it a lot more in my brush and things. So now I'm back on track.

Topic: RE: Exercising
Hi everyone! I'm usually a lurker on the boards but try to post when I can. This board always seems pretty quiet though. As far as exercise - I go to the gym 5-6 times a week actually. I get up and go first thing in the morning while my husband and son are sleeping. I'm there for an hour or so. I start with cardio (whether it's the bike or ellptical) and I do 30 minutes. Then I do 30 minutes of strength training. I'm thinking I need a new routine so I'm meeting with the exercise phsiologist (sp?) next week and see what he says. I'll post an update then so you can all see what ideas he has for me. I do notice that I have muscles now though. I had my husband look at my side because it felt funny when you touch it. He said "it's a muscle honey". I felt dumb then. But it's nice to see some muscle some through though. Jen

Hello, I know exactly what you mean! I'm down 50+ lbs. I've always exercised but recently I was delighted when I did what you did & found that I could actually kick myself! I can also bend in half & touch the floor easily. Flexibility is a good thing! It also means an end to back & knee aches, not to mention any kind of foot pain! Yahoo!

My 6th month anniversary is in 2 days and I feel wonderful. I had my first fill last week and am down 60 pounds. My strat weight was 252 and my weight at the doctors was 192. I am a scale junkie and weight myself everyday. I am now in a size 16 and they are starting to get to big. I can eat everything, except for white meat chicken so I eat dark meat. You can see the diference in me and I love looking in the mirror. Elaine

Good morning, I celebrated my six month surgiversary yesterday - down 85 pounds. I've been married for 29 years, and I happen to have my wedding dress out because our daughter just got engaged and may wear it on her wedding day. Anyway, I decided to try it on and I zipped it up! Mind you, I was still bigger than I wanted to be on my wedding day, but I haven't been that size since then, so it felt pretty darn good. Then last night at the gym, I was able to stretch each quad by bending my knee and grabbing my foot from behind. I could never do that before! Just had to share. Have a nice day!

Hey All! I had my 6 month check up March 13th. I am down 101 lbs from my high of 298. Felt good to get on the scale and be under 200, I'm 197 now. I only weigh at the Dr so I was surprised. I am doing great with my eating and water as well as my protein. It has been more of a mental struggle than a physical one. But I am hanging in there. I don't eat many carbs, I have always been a meat & cheese girl so this is helping me along the way, it is amazing how your taste change. I feel healthy and that is what matters most to me I don't really get hung up on the numbers. Shopping is a chore that I hate. I find myself wanting to shop in the big girls section still, the regular size clothes all look to small and feel like they don't fit right. I can fit most 12's but some 14's, I am sure it is mental but I will get there. Most of my clothes are hand me downs, that I love. I usually walk on my 2 breaks at work and at lunch 4 days a week. My hair has been falling out for a couple of months and has slowed some the last few weeks. I got it cut short yesterday to start new it was straggly on the ends and very thin. Loving my RNY!
