Yes, Katie, you are so right. As a matter of fact, my daughter has lost 72 pounds so far with the gastric bypass. What a difference it has already made in her life.

congrats on your dates getting all lined up like that all mine thankfully are the same day the 29th, i start my liquid diet on the 26th, i hope that it isnt as hard as i think it is going to be i can imagine being full from these protein shakes when slim fast didnt work for me : - (. i dont have anything set for post op care but but i was told you go back 2weeks 3months and then every three months til 24 months out then annually..i am sooooo excitted. i am going to my first support group meeting on saturday to by the lovely protein shakes...take care good luck you are definately in my prayers.

Congratulations!! I am so happy for you. Right now I am in the scared mindset, and I hope when surgery comes closer I will be in the excited mindset you are now.

Topic: New to board, surgery soon
Hi everyone. I am fairly new to the board but have been waiting for my surgery date for almost a year. Prior to that it was 9 months to get into see the Dr. in Alberta who will be doing the surgery.
While Manitoba Health will cover the hospital and travel costs (excluding motels & meals) it is still going to be expensive, probably over $1400.00 out of pocket.
My surgery date is September 24/07 with Dr. Nohr in Medicine Hat, AB. Will anyone else be going to see him around that date? He wants me to stick around a week after release from hospital just in case I spring a leak or something. I am hoping to take a notebook with me and a bunch of movies.
I'm scared, very scared!

I'm so sorry to hear that. What triggered the need for a stress test?
I'm going to have another EKG (had one back in May that was normal) because I didn't have my last EKG done in Temple but in College Station.
I hope your stress test is all normal and you can proceed with surgery as planned.
