Topic: RE: surgery date Sept 5th
I am set for surgery on sept 5th, I have a appt for my pre-education, ultra sound & blood work in the morning. On the 24th I go for a EGD. I was + for H- pylori , antibiotics took care of the bacteria after 2 weeks. The second test I took came out negative (Thank GOD). I am assuming thats why I have to have the Endoscopy (EGD). On the 29th I get to Meet with Dr. Robert Marvin. I do not know what time the surgery will take place yet, but I am excited. My insurance required the 6 months of torture before they would approve the surgery. The first time the surgery was requested it was denied, Second time requested it was approved. I called them everyday for the results ( I drove them nuts) It took 2 weeks after the insurance denied the surgery to recieve the letter, If they denied it again I wanted to know, so I could start doing whatever to get it approved. Finally after 6 months, 2 week delay ( h- Pylori ) and 1 1/2 months to get approved by the insurance company . I will update tomorrow after my testing, I am very excited about being able to talk to people who are getting the surgery and have been through it.

Topic: Surgery is Sept 10th in Maryland
I am new here and think this is a wonderful place for info and good friends. I am having surgery on Sept 10 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore Maryland. I am really ecited. I thought I would never do this but I am at a point due to health issues that I now want to have the RUY. My sister did it 3 years ago and still looks and feels great. My weight to date is 284 and I don't really have any goals at this point. I just want to get through the first 4 weeks and will start to worry about goals. So that is a little bit about me.

Topic: RE: I have a tentative date for Sept. 26!
Empire received my paperwork Monday morning and I had approval by that afternoon. I stayed on my Drs office though for 2 weeks to get the paperwork in. Empire has their medical policy on obesity surgery on their website.

Topic: Hoping to join you on the 11 or 12
My name is Marlayna, I'm a teacher. I started this process in May, and had hoped to be done in the summer while I was off. Everything took longer than I thought. I am scheduled for my endoscopy on Thurs., and have my surgical consult on Tues. I hope I get a date then. Everything else is done. Have other people taken this long? I have been trying not to be impatient, but it's hard. Good luck and God bless to all of you with a date. Please keep us posted on how you're doing.--Marlayna
Topic: RE: Anyone getting "scared"?
My surgery is the same day as yours and I feel the same way. The 2 weeks of liquid diet scares me more than the surgery it's self does. I am doing the same thing you are doing by easing myself into the liquid phase. My SIL is on her liquid diet now she has one more week to surgery and she said it isnt as hard as you think but that the weekends are a killer because you have nothing to keep you occupied while your not at work. Good luck with your surgery and I hope the liquid diet isnt too stressful.
