Topic: RE: Surgery concern, anyone else?
I'm sure if your doctors/surgeon knows about your diabetes, and kidney, they wont release you until they feel you are well enough to go home. They wont just kick you out! Maybe only one night is what you need. There are people I know that have gotten released after one night - having laproscopic. If you have open then they will keep you longer for sure. You'll be fine, and let your surgeon, and nurses know your concerns.. they are there to help you.

Topic: Surgery concern, anyone else?
My sister had Gastric bypass 3 years ago and stayed in the hospital for 2-3 nights. Sinai Hospital in Baltimore is telling me it is only one night now. That is scaring me. I am worried about going home the next day after this kind of surgery. Anyone else staying only one night? I have diabetes and only one Kindney. Tell me what you think or make my mind at ease.
Thanks Kristen from Glen Burnie Maryland

Topic: RE: surgery date Sept 5th
I have my EKG, blood draw, admitting paperwork, and nurse practictioner visit on August 23rd but start my liquid diet on August 22nd. Then I go back to meet with the surgeon and anesthesiologists on August 29th. That's when I'll find out what time I need to report for surgery on September 5th.
I've found the hotel where Mom will be staying (me with her two of the three nights) near the hospital for a reasonable (still pricey to me!) rate.
Now to just make it past my son's birthday tomorrow and a visit to my Mom over the weekend. Then I can focus on getting more broth for the liquid diet phase. I find the Bariatric Advantage Chocolate Pudding/Shake mix to make a really good drink (with 8 oz water in a blender or mixed with my "boat motor" (as Emeril would say)) that satisfies me for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours at a time. It's 25 g protein, 1.5 g fat, and 7.5 g carb, 142 calories per serving. Unfortunately, I'll probably be having four or five a day.
Good luck to all of us!!
