Topic: finally got a date
Since starting in April 2007 I have come to the end of my journey to get a surgery date. I have the date of September 17th with Dr. Cahill, MD at St. James Hospital at Olympia Fields. I go in at 7:30am.

I had to watch a video. Then blood work, urine sample. Lung test and a ekg. Then I met with the Dr. and he went over the test results and then the next week I had to do a echogram stgress test. That was painful and I had to go on a treadmill and when my heart was racing I had to hold my breath as he pressed the ultrasound on me. I was wiped out after that. I will get the results this week. So I am hoping to still have my surgery on September 4th

What happened at pre-op for 5 hrs.?
I have to attend a pre-op class for one morning one or two weeks before surgery, but that's just instruction stuff. Don't know if there is more but I tend to think not as they would have given me a date/time.

What they told you is just blanket policy. What you do is tell your Doc you're not ready to go home & why or he/she may just figure it out all by themselves. They then call your insurer & get permission. No big deal.
Boy, hospitals (insurers, actually) sure don't want you there long, do they?

hi, my name is robyn and my surgery date is also on sept 25th, in tucson az. iam having the vertical sleeve gastrectomy done......i just found out last thurs at my dr. apt. ever since then i think i have made myself nauseated, just being excited and anxious all at the same time. iam very excited about getting my new transformation started.......but like you said, having a fear of the unkown is a big thing for me. good luck on your day. best of health to you!
