Topic: RE: RU Exercising to GET READY????
I have gone to my gym and got on a program just to try to get started before mine too. I am having lap rny on the 24th and will do a lot of walking for the first week then back to the gym I hope just have to wait and see what happens after surgery.
Topic: RE: Prep????
My dr too does not require any kind of special prep, I ask that the other day when they called to set up my last visit before surgery, from what I understand alot of the preop stuff has to do with how big you are too, the pre op is to try to shrink your liver so that they have a little more room to move around in there. But mine said I didn't have to do anything special.

Hey Kimmy...they changed my date to 9/14, but we can still be surgery buddies
My clinic did give me a pre-op diet to follow. I'm on the three S's (low sodium soup, salad, sandwich with lean deli meat). I'm also trying really hard to increase my water intake because I usually only manage about 2 or 3 ten ounce bottles a day. Gotta do better than that .
I'm super excited too, but the closer it gets the more nervous I get. It'll be fine though.
I can't wait!

Topic: RE: Liquid Diet Suggestions for 9/10 surgery
Mary, If you are hungry you may need to up your protein so your body has fuel & feeds on the protein instead of your muscle. Up your protein shakes, and save the V-8 and Broth for snacks.
Hang in there, it gets better!
Topic: RE: Anyone else emotional/depressed b4 surgery??
Sara, my surgery is on the 11th, and I understand the ups and downs, for me it is sleepless nights! Wish I could find the "off" button to my head sometimes!
What activities do you enjoy? Take some short walks in the sunshine we still have for a while longer - for some reason that elevates endorphins in your brain, and you'll feel lighter and happier (honest!) and it will be good for you. Throw on some upbeat music, and make your body move
Don't waste another moment of these last days with negative emotions floating around you - focus on the excitement, and take captive the down thoughts. If ya gotta crawl into bed, take some clothing catalogs with you, and enjoy the fact that very soon you will be able to choose anything you want to wear! You'll be so busy drooling over cute clothes you won't have time to be depressed! (what was your first clue that I am a shopaholic?? LOL)
My thoughts and prayers will be with you, Sara - Hang in there!
Topic: RE: My NewLife Day is Sept 13th!
Charlotte: Absolutely we can be friends! That's one thing we can never have too many of, right? I'll watch for you in my friends section and you are welcome to mail me instead of using the boards, if it's easier for ya. I sometimes have a hard time following my yogurt-raisin trail back to the boards cuz someone keeps eating them! WARNING - I'm  :-D Looking forward to sharing progress & info! ~ KimmyG

Hi KimmyGee! I am having the same surgery as you on Sept. 11th in Nampa, Idaho. I am so glad I found your posts (by accident, I'm still learning this site, too!) Hopefully I won't post this to you and I'll never find it again- lost forever in cyberspace for everyone to read except ME! Would love to add you to my friends list so we can keep tabs on each others progress! Have a great weekend! Charlotte
