Heyyyyy My September Babies! Happy 6 month Anniversary!
I had the lap band on Sept. 10 and have lost 60 pounds-- 261 down to 201-- I cannot wait until I get under 200. I can eat most things-- still have trouble chewing thoroughly enough sometimes or right after a fill, but normally all is good. I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. I am off all medicines and am looking forward to wearing shorts this summer and I haven't been able to do that with any confidence in years. I am wearing a 14 and feel so good. It has been so long since I have been able to shop in regular stores and I'm still a bit nervous about buying clothes that "fit" but plan to go shopping in a few days to get some new things that don't just cover me but look stylish(????) Life is good and I'm headed upstairs to the treadmill!
Hey All! I had my 6 month check up March 13th. I am down 101 lbs from my high of 298. Felt good to get on the scale and be under 200, I'm 197 now. I only weigh at the Dr so I was surprised. I am doing great with my eating and water as well as my protein. It has been more of a mental struggle than a physical one. But I am hanging in there. I don't eat many carbs, I have always been a meat & cheese girl so this is helping me along the way, it is amazing how your taste change. I feel healthy and that is what matters most to me I don't really get hung up on the numbers. Shopping is a chore that I hate. I find myself wanting to shop in the big girls section still, the regular size clothes all look to small and feel like they don't fit right. I can fit most 12's but some 14's, I am sure it is mental but I will get there. Most of my clothes are hand me downs, that I love. I usually walk on my 2 breaks at work and at lunch 4 days a week. My hair has been falling out for a couple of months and has slowed some the last few weeks. I got it cut short yesterday to start new it was straggly on the ends and very thin. Loving my RNY!
My 6th month anniversary is in 2 days and I feel wonderful. I had my first fill last week and am down 60 pounds. My strat weight was 252 and my weight at the doctors was 192. I am a scale junkie and weight myself everyday.
I am now in a size 16 and they are starting to get to big.
I can eat everything, except for white meat chicken so I eat dark meat. You can see the diference in me and I love looking in the mirror.

Well...my name is Jen and I had RNY on September 18th. My ighest weight was 330 and then I went on a calorie restriction before surgery and got down to 302 - which was the day of surgery. I weigh myself every Tuesday. So this past Tuesday I was 203. 99 pounds lost. I got next week to the dr for my official weigh in and blood work. I am also meeting with the nutrionist and exercise doc as well as getting my 2nd body scan. So I'm excited for all of that.
I exercise at the gym 5-6 times a week. I also have a son who will be 2 in June so he keeps me busy all the time, lol. I started out in a size 28 (with elastic waist) and now I am in a size 14 jeans...and they are getting a little big now. A few times I have even found a size medium cotton shorts that fit and size large top too. It's a strange feeling to now shop in the plus size all the time. I went to Kohls and bought a dress for a wedding I'll be attending and it was a large in the misses section. A HUGE wow moment for me.
I can eat honestly whatever I want. Sometimes I have slipped and ate bad but nothing with much sugar. I really don't even try it. I had dumping a few times from turkey so I don't eat that at all anymore. I can only imagine how bad it owuld be with sugar then! I can eat out with friends, which is nice. I'm back to writing down what I eat and counting calories to help break this plateau I'm in. I am also back to drinking an Isopure a day since I've noticed a little bit more hair in my brush than used to be there, lol.
All in all I am SO HAPPY I had this surgery. It's already changed my life. I'll be anxious too look into a tummy tuck though. It'll be much needed!
I had open RNY on Sept 7, 2007 and I weighed in at 286. On March 7, 2009 I weighted in at 186. I pretty much can eat everything except fried foods and bread. I pretty much stick to the basics though. I have a hard time getting in all my water and protein but I keep trying everyday.
Exercise not my best side but I try to walk everyday and use my weights.
I eat pretty much anything I want to now. I don't dump from sugar, so I am finding out about how much of an enemy it is......... I try to get in a protein shake with 8 oz. of skim milk every day. I have turned into a coffee-aholic because I can't drink soda anymore and I have gotten tired of the flavored water drinks, and I want to drink something with flavor to it. My hair has been falling out since around December, but it is slowing down. I am not doing very well on the exercise side though, I am hoping my motivation will pick up when the weather gets better. It is weird though, I always thought people were looking at me before because I was so fat, but now I see people staring at me again. I guess they are amazed at my transformation, or are trying to figure out how they somehow know who I am. I waved and smiled to a woman at my family doctor's office the other day, and she didn't know who I was until they called my name to go back to the exam room. I just worked with this woman probably 9 months or so ago. What a good feeling!
Highest: 306
Surgery day: 272
Current: 206 (Yes!!! finally 100 lbs.)
Highest clothing size: 24-26
Current: 14-16
Sounds like everyone is doing great. Keep up the good work!!!
What a great idea for a post - I've been wondering how everyone else was doing! Here are my stats:
Highest weight: 287
Day of Surgery: 255
Current weight: 188 (only 1# to go to 100# lost!)
Previous clothing size: 26W/3X
Current: 16-18/XL
I can eat just about anything, although I have had a couple of dumping episodes and I haven't really figured out the culprit. My calorie intake runs about 1000 per day, with at least 70 g of protein. I eat rice, noodles and potatoes, but only a little at any meal. I'm pretty full after eating the protein! I can tolerate some sugar and chocolate, so I try not to keep any of that tempting stuff in the house. I haven't had any carbonated beverages - I'm afraid I'll tolerate it and start drinking lots of it again!
My weight loss has slowed (to about 4 lbs a month), but that is probably because I am getting closer to goal (155) and some illness (unrelated to the surgery) kept me from exercising much lately. Anyway, as long as the scale is going in the right direction, I'm happy. Hair loss seems to have slowed, but still ongoing.
I was taking meds for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, gastric reflux, and thyroid before surgery. Now, I take only thyroid and that is slowly being lowered as my body mass decreases. I have absolutely no regrets and recommend the surgery for anyone who has struggled with health issues related to their weight.
Yes, I am having a very hard time adjusting to not shopping in the Women's section! Just can't believe I fit in those smaller sizes! My son and daughter-in-law took me shopping last week and helped me find sizes that fit! Wasn't that sweet of them?
Sounds like everyone is doing great - keep up the good work!
