Are you where you thought you'd be?

Hi I had my surgery September 21 and I am down 77 lbs. I have not lost any weight since before christmas. My hair is not falling out yet, but who knows it could start tomorrow. The last three weeks have been really good. I have only thrown up once. In the beginning I thought they had given me belimia because everything I ate came back up. I still don't eat very much through the day. am yogurt, snack cheese slice, lunch soup, supper about 1/2 cup of whatever the family is eating. I can eat steak. 1/2 inch cub cut into very small pieces. I seem to be alittle down lately, I think it is the hormone thing happening. The biggest wow for me was going from a 32W jeans to a size 20. I have bones now that I never knew I had. I need to get more active.

I had RNY on 9/28/07 and am down 82 lbs. as of this morning. Overall, I am doing well, but I do still struggle with eating the right things sometimes. I just try to remind myself of where I was before the surgery (nothing but junk food, fast food and diet sodas) and keep trying to make changes little by little. I don't get sick hardly ever from what I eat, so I must be doing something right . I haven't lost much hair yet, but I did cut it short just in case. My new cut is super-different from anything I have had EVER (angled bob with blunt-cut bangs like Katie Holmes), but I was really ready for a major change. I try to work out at least 4X/week, but I need to add more weight lifting to my regimen. I am pretty happy with my progress so far, but I sometimes get down on myself knowing it could be better. Still, I am glad every day that I had this opportunity and so optimistic about the future!

I totally forgotten this forum area existed (a section for the month/year you had WLS)... It is soooo comforting to know I'm not alone in a lot of what i am going threw! I had Lap RNY 9/24/07..... This month was a bit hard, I was down and tired all the time... I couldn't even find the energy to go to the gym. FInally went to see my surgeon (well his PA), and do my 3month post op check up which I was overdue for... I admitted not going to the gym and even struggling with getting a walk in even though I had full intention to. He simply said, you are still fairly early out, if you don't get moving, go to the gym and excercise regularly your loss will be slower and as more time passes the loss will slow down even more until about 18months out when I am going to lose like every other person out there without WLS... And it hit me... I'm on a timer here to lose and learn... So my shrinking butt got up and went to the gym that day, that was this past thursday. This weekend I walked, walked and walked some more... I also worked out my entire body and this evening if I don't go to the gym I'll be doing a lower body routine. I am comitted to excercising EVERY SINGLE DAY! no matter how small I am going to keep moving so I can keep losing! The PA also said I might feel more energized if I do this and I didn't believe him however 4days later, I do feel better. The fog that I had over me seems to be lifting so I'm going to keep at it.... As for hair loss... it needs to stop.. it started right after surgery and stops for a little while and picks up again.. I'm losing right now and I dont' want to lose anymore. I keep hoping it will stop soon but am considering getting Biotin and trying it out. As for having lost what I expected, well I am not sure what I expected. I knew I would lose overnight but that this would help me and I would lose.... I've lost 75lbs total (16lbs pre-op, 59 post op). I'm happy with it, however I still have a little more than 75lbs to go get to my goal... By my next appointment in March I want to have lost another 20lbs and for that I truly feel I have to stay focused and committeed... Like many of you I am also struggling with the attention.... At work everyone compliments me, I get a few every single day. Don't get me wrong I appreciate it because it makes me feel like, although I do not see it, there is change going on and it must be good... but I have hard time accepting and thanking people... I look in the mirror and still see the pre-op big girl I was... I know its all in my mind cause I know its not the same... how can it be I was wearing 24-26 tops and 26-28 bottoms... now I wear 14/16 tops and 18/20 bottoms. I keep wondering how long before my head sees the changes that everyone around me sees. They need to teach a called Accepting the new you and the attention that comes with it! I don't mean to be rude and what not and I hope my co-workers know this, I just have a hard time accepting that its me they are talking all this stuff about... me that they keep complimenting... Its me that they call Skinny, Shrinking girl, etc... Yeah the new nickname at my job has been Skinny... Everyone seems to be adopting it....... I don't see myself that way though..... I'm still a big girl .... or at least inside I still feel I am...

Hi! My RNY date was 9/26/07. As of Monday I have lost 125 pounds and 127 inches. I am very pleased with my results so far. I've had some stalls, but I just try to remember to keep chugging along. I work out 5 days a week, 1 to 2 hours in the morning doing aqua fit, and 1 to 2 hours in the evening doing cardio, and weight lifting. I know that may sound a little extreme, but I am the one teaching the water classes. Most days I instruct older adults, so the workouts aren't extremely intense. I've had strictures 3 time and on the 3rd, my surgeon perfed my pouch. It really wasn't her fault, the anestia (sp) didn't give enough numbing meds and I started gaging uncontrollably after she got the endoscope down. I ended up at the hospital for 6 days. Even with the ups and downs, I would do it all over again. I still see the girl that is 125 pounds bigger when I look in the mirror too. Jeni

I had my surgery in Columbia, SC on Sept., 24. Starting weight 279 lbs. Most recent weight 196 lbs. I lost steadily after surgery through Christmas. Had some problems with eating too fast and vomiting. Haven't experience dumping, thank goodness. I've always had trouble remembering to take my meds so taking my vitamins is problematic. I know I must though. After Christmas my hair started falling out and I plateaued. The plateau lasted over three weeks. My hair is still falling out. Thankfully, I have thick hair. Tomorrow, when I go to get my haircut, I'm thinking of a pixie cut. My energy level is finally present. It has been absent for so long. My main form of exercise is walking and playing with my two mutts. Life changes?! Well, I move without knee pain and can walk without becoming winded. I've gone from tight size 22W to loose size 16W.
